Friday, April 17th, 2015. Last working day of the week. I am Ned Gibbson, a happy 27-year old MBA graduate living with my sister Nelma, her son Christian, and our father, Morris. I got up at 9 in the morning, got ready, had my coffee and started out. I was smiling as usual and was very happy as I was getting my promotion thad day. I reached 7th avenue and stopped in front of a traffic signal. I noticed a drunk man driving a truck on the other side of the road. I was showing 9:45 am on the watch and as the traffic light got green on my side, I began to drive forward, but when I looked at the side, I saw the drunkard also accelerating towards me. I got scared and tried to drive faster. But it was too late, the truck came and hit me, and as fate would have it, I succumbed to the injuries I recieved and died.
Slowly, I began to see my own dead body lying still in the car and realized I was descending from the earth. I reached the sky and slowly the white clouds and blue sky began to show parts of red. Then I came to a stop. I saw two big doors on my either side, one as red as blood with fire all around it and and the other as blue as the sky with white sparrows flying around it. Then a voice came from above. It shouted to me "Go on Ned, as you have lived a life for other people and at the same time has given a few wrongdoings to society accidentally, I, god have decided to let you choose where you prefer to go.'' I was confused for a second. Was I dreaming or was all this really happening. I pinched myself hard just to see what would happen. The only THING that happened was pain.
A long time passed by, I still could'nt understand a thing. This is when I decided to take matters as it is. I finally got myself to understand everything and decided to choose a place to go. It was confusing. As I was somebody from the modern generation, I thought that heaven was a quite boring place to be in, but also preffered it considering the fact that it was big thing getting into heaven.
Eventually, I made up my mind. I slowly took off my shoe, put it on the cloud I was standing on and began to rub it hard. The cloud slowly started to clear out and showed a big gap. When I looked through I could see the earth. I took a deep breath, closed my eyes, counted up to 10 and jumped in through the gap. I expected to hit the hard ground and die once more. But this time I landed perfect on the ground with no scratches. I saw that I was in the very park infront of my house. I also noticed that there was'nt a single soul around the whole place.
Then suddenly, the same voice I heard earlier came into my ear again. It told me this time ''Ned, you were an innocent person and that is why you made such a wise decision. I have put you back in time and now you are here 2 hours before the accident that is 7: 45 am. You can now decide what to do.'', the voice concluded. Suddenly, a huge wave went from me all across and the people began to gather.
As the voice said, I began to think what to do. Then I made up my mind. I slowly entered my house. With a tensed but calm face, I opened my computer, opened my e-mail and mailed my boss asking him to grant me leave and keep my promotion party on Sunday. Just then, my sister came into the room. Seeing my face she asked me if I was okay, and with a calm face I replied I was okay and told her I was taking a leave that day.
A few hours passed by, and the newspaper came in. The very drunkard who was earlier responsible for my accident crashed into a building wall and died. As I felt calm and composed, something in me told me that even if I did'nt come back to earth when I was given the chance, it would'nt have made a difference if I chose heaven or hell, because I still had to die someday. But what I understood was that if a man has made the right choices in his life, then his death would'nt have made a difference at all. And saying so, I think this experience of mine was a lesson truly meant to be learned.
