There were all kinds of things flying in that room. Chairs, tables, pencils, pens, you know, school stuff. I never would have thought that my best friend was... A witch? Just some freak? I don't know how to name her.
I guess you're wondering what I'm talking about. Well, let's start from the beginning. I'm Sam, and I'm 18 years old. I'm just about to finish high school. I have lots of friends, but the best one is Sarah. We've been friends since forever.
But she had never told me that she could make things fly. It all began when we were about to leave school for the day. I was just getting in my car when Sarah came in, and she looked scared. So, naturally, I got scared too.
"What's going on?", I asked.
"Come, now!", she yelled before grabbing my arm and dragging me to one of our classrooms. She hid behind a table, that was already knocked over when we came in. I guess she had done that.
"Ok, there's someone trying to kill me", she announced. I looked at her, puzzled. Who would want to kill her? And at school? It didn't make any sense.
"What? Who?"
"Remember that new girl in class? Drew?". I nodded."Well, she's hunting me". It still didn't make sense.
"Explain it to me, please", I said. She rolled her eyes, and told me.
"Ok, I have a power. I can make things levitate. No, don't look at me like that, I'm not crazy". Indeed, I was looking at her like she was crazy. But what did she expect me to do? She had just kidnapped me and told me that someone was trying to kill her, and that she had powers. I thought it was all a joke.
"Anyhow, my family has had that power for centuries, because they stole it from Drew's family. Since then, they have been training to kill us. That way, they get their powers back. And revenge. They have grown to be more dangerous with each generation. My family has grown more powerful as well. Right now, I'm the most powerful member, so that's why they're hunting me first. So I can't protect my family"
It was too much information to swallow in the mere 20 seconds it took her to tell me. I just didn't understand. Magic? Centuries of one family trying to kill another? That was delusional.
"Ok, I believe you", I said. "But why did you bring me here?"
She smiled. "I need someone to help me defeat Drew".
How could I help her? She had just said that Drew was a trained killer. I was just a basketball player. What could I do? I was about to ask her when the door opened violently.
Drew made her appearance. Her golden hair was going in all different directions, and she looked furious. I was actually scared of her.
"Come here, stealing bitch!", Drew yelled. Sarah screamed something back, but I didn't understand it. All I saw was that all the tables, pencils and chairs were sent towards our blonde classmate. She elegantly avoided each and every one of those. I saw Sarah with fear. She nodded at me, like saying "Yep, that was me"
"That can't be all the power from the most powerful bitch in the family", Drew mocked. I kinda got mad at her. No one could talk to my friends like that. So I went right to tackle her.
Unfortunately for me, she had knives. And she knew how to throw them. I dodged one just by pure luck, and Sarah helped me by sending the others flying to another direction. Drew seemed even more pissed. She came close to me and kicked my face. I fell right beside my friend. Yep, that's how hard Drew kicked.
Sarah dragged me behind the table again, saving me from yet another knife. She whispered:
"We have to get out of here". So she sent the table flying towards the blonde, and we ran out of the room. Sarah lead me to the gym. She said that she had an advantage there, because she had more space and more things to throw at Drew.
A knife flew right beside my head, which made me run even faster. Sarah opened the doors with magic, or whatever that was, without even bothering to close them. She knew that Drew would open them anyways.
She got to the center of the gym and asked me to distract the blonde. I put myself in front of Sarah, hesitating. When Drew came by the door, Sarah said that the only way we could defeat her was by stabbing her with one of her own knives.
"But isn't she going to die then?" I asked. I didn't want to kill anybody. Even if that someone was trying to kill me.
"No. She'll just vanish and reappear with her family. Then, they will have to wait another generation to kill her". Drew didn't waste a second. While Sarah and I had that little conversation, we had avoided many murder attempts from Drew. She was a freaking killing machine. Also, I wondered how many knives she had. I shook my head. I shouldn't have been thinking about such stupid things.
Sarah moved a knife towards her hand, and saw me. I knew what I had to do.
I ran and grabbed Drew, then I turned her around, like a human shield. She kicked and punched me basically everywhere, but I couldn't let her go. Sarah threw the knife. I guess that she used magic, because the knife went straight through Drew's chest. She screamed in pain and then disappeared.
Sarah was really relieved, from what I could see. She smiled at me and said:
"Well, I won't have to worry about her family in a while", then she turned serious. "You can't tell anyone what you saw. Do you understand?" I nodded. "We won't talk about this again, and you will try to forget it. It never happened, okay?". Then she just left and went home.
I swear that I've tried to forget. But all the surprises and the fear I was feeling have made that task impossible. Sarah has acted like nothing ever happened. Maybe she did forget. But I never will, even if I can never mention it again.
Now, I never told you this, get it? I fear that if Sarah finds out, she will be a worse threat than Drew.
Bye, bye.
Sarah is a witch?(Robert)
