Hi to whomsoever is reading this article. I am Darsha and I am 13. I have told my heart out in this article.
We all say that the world is improving. Almost everyone predicts that tomorrow we'll have a better place. But, is it true? Will it really be safe? Everyone encourages small children to help make the world a better place. Yes, maybe 2 or 3 children stand up for the change. But how can a single ant build a whole anthill without unity? People need to join up and look for the ones who are willing to raise their voice. I may be a little young to say all this, but this is what I feel about the world.
Now, improvements doesn't only mean to be obedient and all but to have the courage to right the wrong. Let me give you an example. One day, my dad asked a man for a location. The man frowned and said no. My dad, disappointed, looked at his mobile gps which was not working. After about 30 minutes of confusion and chaos, the man came running towards us and told us that we should turn around and go through the other way cause of the construction going on ahead. Did the man gain a thing by helping us? Is there any harm in helping? Almost every day I hear cases about some person getting beaten up in front of the public. No one comes forward to help? Everyone fears to get beaten up for interfering. Even I am scared of that. But how can we have such a mentality that 4 to 7 robbers can beat the whole crowd of 40 to 50? Are they some kind of ninjas? Of course not! If the crowd is not helping, why not motivate them? Of course there might be someone who might want to help. But no. We don't bother to help. We don't even trust our own country mates.
The main priority is poverty. How do we banish it? Obviously, it will take a few decades to banish. Famines, slums, money loss. They are helpless. But from what I saw, I take back my words. A girl of around 23 years old came at our window begging for money saying that she is helpless. I felt pity on her just when I saw an old man, coughing and limping on the footpath and laying a ragged carpet. Then I came to know, that he polished shoes to earn money. The urge to earn money made the old man overcome his conditions. While the girl who was capable of working was begging. See the difference? No one is helpless. Where there is will, there is way. We should not only think about ourselves, but do our duty as a citizen. For eg, when me and my family went for a safari, some careless tourists had littered the whole jungle tracks with wine bottles. Our driver stopped the vehicle, and started cleaning the area. Though he will not get paid for it, he was doing his duty as a citizen.
So, we get that mindset plays the game. Just depends on your mindset. Developments come later, when you have improved on the improvements. We just need the courage to raise our voice.
P.S this is how I raise my voice.
