i heard it again. the voice, whispering, and begging for help. i'd been hearing it more and more as the days went by. she needed me. who she was exactly, i didn't know. all i knew was that i needed to help her. the sound of her voice, so lonely and depressed was becoming unbearable. then, the day i was going to find her to help her, it stopped. then there was an earsplitting shriek, followed by continuous sobbing. for the first time in forever, i knew where she was. i just had a feeling. after escaping my parents, i made my way towards the forbidden alleyway. at the end. where the walls finally met, i stopped. i whispered "i have to save her." the walls were full of dark magic and opened when you were ready to sell a small piece of your soul to pay for something you wanted. a terrible, cold feeling washed over me, leaving me feeling empty. if i could save her, and i was determined to, my soul would be returned. that night, i snuck over to the mansion a few blocks away. it was easy enough to get in, surprisingly. but, once i entered, a wave of curiosity washed over me. a huge, golden gate was right behind the entrance to the actual building, after the courtyard. the bars had fairly large gaps in between each one, so i wondered why someone would even bother. after sliding through the gaps, i ended up in a room, and a peculiar one at that. everything was toddler sized, and all was in a very soft shade of green, blue, or pink. a tingling sensation slowly took over my body when i stepped over the threshold into the room. i began to dance. like a ballerina with skills you've never seen before, i danced. with skills i'd never discovered, i was dancing, and i couldnt stop. i grabbed a large golden key that was just lying on a small wooden dresser in the corner. the second i had the key, my feet stopped. i found the exit to the room behind a large pile of teddy bears. i walked, slowly, through a room that seemed to never end. that's when fate stepped in. i heard foot steps. i looked to my right, and what must have been the worlds largest refrigerator was there. i crawled underneath, and to my discovery, there were tubes large enough to fit a human adult in them. i heard it. not just in my head, but out loud. the same sobbing and screams and pleads ive heard for months now. i ran over to one of the tubes, and let it suck me up. i ended up a very tight room. i turned around and saw a terrified girl standing there, staring at me. "you... you heard me. you came to help." she explained to me that a year ago her poor family saw that mansion and couldn't resist seeing if there was a person kind enough to give some money to the hungry group. a beast, as she described it, threw them in there. her mother died first, after only 3 months. her father was the next to go. slowly, her once large family reduced to herself and her now 1 year old brother. i promised to get her out. she led me to a slightly larger room where the ground was littered with bones. the girl, whose name i found to be isabel, began to cry once more. "my family. my mother, father, sisters. at least i have benji" she smiled down at her baby brother. after spending a few hungry days with isabel, she told me how i need to help her escape. i had to drink a drop of the beasts blood. i picked up the pocket knife isabel's dad supposedly carried with him everywhere before he died, and slid down the tube. i heard the footsteps again. at first, the feet that passed looked totally normal, but i quickly realized that they weren't ordinary human feet. they would glitch around. i held out the knife, and tried to cut the foot, but it healed before any blood could drop. and, to my surprise, the "beast" didn't seem to notice. isabel, who was lying on the ground next to me, grabbed my hand and told me that we just have to make a run for it. after bundling up benji, we ran. we ran through the endless room, danced through the key room (where i had to return the key in order to stop dancing), and out through the gate. "one more thing before we go our separate ways," she looked at me seriously and said,"thank you for setting my soul free. my body is the illusion of this beast, but am the controller." slowly, she morphed into an ugly dead girls form. i pleaded with her to let me go, but she only laughed. everything went dark, and when i awoke, i was the new beast. her soul was free, and mine was trapped until i sabotaged someone else, setting myself free. but what really got to me was that she was dead. she had been dead all along.
