A Whole New Perspective
By Angel Wells
F, from Florissant, Colorado, United States
On a afternoon I could feel my feelings and soul getting jumbled up, as if it were a ball made out of rubberbands. My mind is racing, thought scrambled everywhere. As I sit on my couch, blinds closed, no lights on, just me sitting in a dark room, I start to think, maybe i should go outside for once. And so i did, as I was stroaming through the grey and dull meadow, I came across a little old lady just sitting there as if she was cogitating.

I walk towards her and sit down tacitly. I introduce myself, as so does she. The second I start to ask her if anything was wrong, she asks me, what I was doing walking around in such a beautiful extravagant place, I looked at her confused, I ask “What are you talking about? It’s grey and dull.” She responds “No, it’s so pretty out today, flowers blooming and blue skies, so warm.” I said “That’s not what i see and feel, dark skies and cold weather, is what I feel.” The little old lady turned and looked at me as if I was crazy. She asked me what was wrong, to be seeing and feeling the world like this. I aske dher what she meant. She said “I’m seeing the bright sunlight that’s nice and warm, surrounded by big white fluffy clouds in a light colored blue sky.’ My response to her was ‘ My life isnt like yours. I don’t see it the way you do.” She explained to me “I haven’t always seen it this beautiful and clear either, it took me some time and a lot of soul searching to get where i am, by the time i hit my 20’s, I didnt’t know what life was and that it could go so wrong. I hit rock bottom and just stayed to myself, one morning I woke up and found myself wishing I was no longer alive but also in the same morning, I ran into a person that changed my life. So just like you I didn’t always find myself seeing grey skies as blue skies.”

I was shocked to hear I wasn’t the only one that knows what it feels like. I asked “So how’d you get where you are today”? She replied “I found someone that had an amazing soul and is just so positive, he made realize what life was all about” As I smiled and thought about all the positive things in my life my vision towards life started getting colorful and more clear. I turned to the little old lady and said “Thank you so much for helping me realize that life is pretty once you start to think about positive and not negative, it was a great pleasure to meet you. I hope to see you again another time.” She just looked at me smile and said “of course”. From that day on. I’ve been living life to the fullest and helping guide others through their darkest times.
