DEATH IN CALIFORNIA(KARTHIK A R) It was just another rainy day. The worst day of the month is probably today. Today Dr. William and the most famous detective Richard were talking about an incident that happened in California. In California there has been a murder of two people in the same day! “I have heard that the police have failed to solve this mystery yet” said William. After hearing this too Richard remained silent, thinking. After a long time he said “we must go there”. “Are you mad?”William shouted with fury” we are not going there” he said.”Yes we are William” Richard said in a soft voice. William remained silent as if he knew it was no use arguing with him.

Next day they both decided to go to California in the evening train. William seemed nervous because there is a killer in the house roaming free, and no one knows who it is! But in the other hand Richard seemed too exited to find killer. Next day they arrived at California “if I die I am going to kill you Richard” said William. Richard just smiled and started to walk. They called a taxi and went to the palace. The first time when they entered the palace the people didn’t know who they are but the baroness seemed to know Richard welcomed them. She said “we have a serious issue here there has been murder of Dr. Charles and Colonel Robert, the police searched the room in which they both died they found an empty phial which contained poison from the doctors first aid kit, it had a changed label of cough syrup which the Colonel was taking every evening, the doctor was shot by a pistol of the Colonel what do you understand from this detective?”. “I think the doctor poisoned the colonel and when the colonel knew he had poisoned him she took his pistol and shot him” said William “probably, but the chances are that there is someone other who wants them both dead in this palace but the point you said is really a nice guess” said Richard “it’s not an easy case I think” said William. The baroness gave them a room to stay. They went to bed and were asleep quickly.

Next day Richard and William met all the people living in the house there was Thomas the cook, Elena the artist, Diana the nun, Victor the judge and Mary the baroness. Richard the requested the baroness to take him to the room where the crime took place. They entered and saw nothing helpful for their investigation. Suddenly Richard noticed a photo which had all the people in the palace in it. He looked it very carefully and began to search every corner of the room. He searched and searched and found a red color spilled on the floor he smelled it and understood it was not blood but something else. He took his mobile phone and called the police and told to come here instantly and also told he has got the killed every one was shocked and Richard moved towards Elena and told “what is the relation between you colonel and the nun?” there had been silence for a while and Elena said “ the nun is my mom” everyone was not even breathing as she continued “the colonel had once raped my mom and I was born because of him , my mom hid this secret from me for years I didn’t even know that the nun was my mom the secret slipped out of her mouth when we were arguing about something. Then I decided that the colonel must not live I put the label of his cough syrup on the poison’s phial but accidently the doctor saw me stealing the poison so I shot him with the colonel’s pistol, fortunately it had a silencer which helped me not awake anybody by the sound of the gun then I gave the phial to the colonel and he died instantly but how did you know it was me who did the crime?”she asked with a smile on his face Richard said “ you had many facial features which is not very noticeable of the nun and the Colonel that’s how I understood there is something going on between you three then I searched for an evidence then I saw the red color on the floor which is only used by artists, then I understood you are the one who did the crime

After a while the police came Elena told what she have done. The inspector thanked Richard and William and arrested Elena. Everyone in the family thanked Richard and William and offered them to stay there for some more days but they refused and went to the railway station. In the train they were talking about the exiting parts of the investigation. They went home and William said “you really saved you from getting killed by me” they both laughed loudly.
