She had gotten the fish tank after she had given up on her dream to become an astronaut and to discover extraterrestrial life. It just wasn’t very likely to happen. Now she wanted to become a marine biologist. Scuba diving would be almost like being in space. And why try to find extraterrestrial life when so much life in the oceans was sick and could use some help? A fish tank would be a good place to start. She had hooked up her computer to the tank and tried to get the code right to balance the ecosystem. Still, the water got murky every night and she had to clean it every morning. This morning, as she cleaned the tank, she looked out the window, and noticed a bright streak rushing across the sky. After a few moments the streak ended in the field across the road with a loud noise that made the window rattle and set off a few car alarms in the neighborhood. As she crossed the road, she found a spot where the snow was gone and a small hole was dug into the soil. There was nothing special to see except for an interesting rock at the bottom of the crater. The rock would be great for her fish tank, she thought as she picked it up. She placed the rock carefully between the plants, trying not to scare the fish, when she noticed that somehow her computer got very busy. It stayed busy for the rest of the day. The next morning the water in the tank was still clear and suddenly the computer screen turned black. Then, one after the other, letters appeared on the monitor: H. E. L. L. O. …..
