Born 1991, F, from Dar es salaam, Tanzania, United Republic Of.jpg)
Mazengo! Mazengo! the sound was coming from the right side behind the mwarobaini tree where the village dam was located. With dizzy feeling he was slowly moving his hands toward his eyes while slowly he tried to open his eyes so he could see clearly. He was laying on the beautiful soft grasses under the mwarobaini tree. indeed it was a busy day for him.
Mazengo was the last born with 7 elder brothers and 4 elder sisters. his father had two wives where his mother was the second wife, her name was Tabia. Although everybody in his family knew how to read and write nobody got a proper education.
Every night Mazengo would lay himself down counting stars and hope one day he would finish all of it. He was a good thinker, and listener, for that he used to sit alone. His father had a small flock where every evening he had to give food and water. That was a permanent duty he had.
Mr Mayunga was the eldest teacher in school, he was a volunteer since there was a shortage of teachers in school. Mr Mayunga was a good friend of Mazengo. Mr Mayunga always used to tell Mazengo despite the fact that he was not one of the best students in the class still there was something special about him.
Every day Mazengo would have ugali and one cup of tea as breakfast and in evening would take ugali and vegetable as dinner, there was no lunch. Once he thought about the flying he would wear that smile on his face, flying was what he dreamed of. That vice came again "wherever your heart is, your destiny is there." The voice came frequently. as time went by it was even stronger, like someone was speaking near his ear. One thing Mazengo was is persistent, he had never taken anything for granted.
That day was the day of the interview for all class seven and qualified students would be selected for further studies under the finance of the village, mazengo was there too. after a few days the list of selected students came out but mazengo was not among the selected students. His father made clear he can't afford financing him, his heart was so down, so confused. He spent the whole day thinking without eating. that day he was afraid of losing hope that voice was there too, "wherever your heart is, your destiny is there".
Two years had passed, no hope for schooling. again all he knew was grazing, from morning to evening he would take his father's flock around the village dam. Mazengo heard about the competition where many schools would be there at the village for exhibition on searching skilled students to finance their studies. Mazengo made his own plane on his own design by using remaining of the trees. he had done that by using the book which Mr Mayumga give him. Mr Mayunga knew how much Mazengo wanted to fly. he gave him the book that had knowledge of science, particularly plane construction and how to fly. For two years while grazing Mazengo used to read that book, for him it was a precious one, considered his way toward flying.
During exhibition Mazengo had not only general knowledge but as well some critical knowledge of his project. most of the different school representatives were amazed with his knowledge, it was hard to believe he was just a shepherd.
There was a new guest in the village, actually he was there on behalf of a famous technical school searching for Mazengo. After the exhibition most of the school was impressed by the skills Mazengo had. Mazengo's mother was home, that day a stranger came directly to her house asking for her son. she was hesitating but to make her feel at ease Mr Chacha introduced himself and explained the main reason for him to be there. Immediately Tabia called Mazengo's elder brother to call for Mazengo around the dam where usually he would go for grazing.
Mazengo! Mazengo! that was the voice of his brother calling him. he was just fallen asleep after long walking with his flock. usually he would rest on either side of the mwarobaini tree after a long walk. His brother was so excited and called him energetically.
Mazengo! Mazengo!
Now u can fly my little brother!
