Faith
Born 1950, M, from Sparta, United States
Faith
Faith is all I have today.
Predetermined was that pathway.
For it was not up to me to say.
It is not always all black and gray.
For there is Faith.
When I was most vulnerable,
I thought I was invincible.
Others thought me a rebel.
Yet, the woman found me irresistible.
In the Lord, she had Faith.
Weeds, I had lots of weeds.
I had planted only those seeds,
Which at the time met the needs
Of those I felt would insure I succeed.
For in the Lord, I had no Faith.
But in the Lord, that woman did trust.
She knew Him to be just.
Her calmness I came to lust.
Love her and trust her I must.
I thought, “She is so full of Faith.”
She taught me about the afterlife.
Through the Lord, she transformed my life.
And we became husband and wife.
But a man took her with a knife.
Before departing she reminded, “Remember Faith!”
The Devil again attempted to mislead.
And thoughts I did give to the weeds,
Which once did meet my bygone needs.
And for a while, the Devil, he did succeed.
‘cause for that while, I forgot Faith.
My rock departed, and life did fill with sorrow.
Old weeds I gave some thought again to sow.
But in her place, my wife left an afterglow.
The day she died, ten years ago,
We named our daughter, Faith.
Faith is all I have today.
