Doll left behind
Born 2006, M, from Oregon, United States“Mom, can I go outside to play?” asked seven-year-old girl Sophia.
“You know the rules right?” mom asked from the kitchen.
“Be home before dark, don’t wander too far into the woods, and stay away from strangers.” Both the mom and Sophia said in unison.
“Okay, bye!” Sophia called and headed out the door.
Sophia lived in a small house with only her mother in the middle of the woods. She had a little brother named Noah but dark events happened, causing a loss of him. After this tragic event, Sophia’s dad divorced her mom and went living with his parents in the happy city.
In the cold afternoon’s cloud, Sophia went to her favorite spot in the woods, where there was a dead tree stump. That one stump was a tall tree which had a beautiful tire swing. Before her brother left, he used to push Sophia every day on the same swing. In mid-October, nights grew dark as fast as a cheetah. the sky darkened and the wind started to howl like a wolf. Sophia thought to herself that she should go home before a storm hit.
“Hello.” A voice that sounded like Noah said.
“AHHH!” Sophia shrieked as a ghost floated around.
“It’s been a long time since I last saw you, you have grown a lot.”
“Go away, I want to go back to my Mommy,” Sophia whispered so softly that she, herself couldn't hear.
“That person!” Noah said in disgust. “Your mom, Nicole, left me in the woods. Yes, me! She never told you, when I banged on the door, your mom just said it was a storm.”
“I’m sorry,” Sophia said in the smallest voice she could make out.
“I’m sorry!?” Noah roared. “Now let mom suffer the same things I did.”

Sophia always follows the rules and gets back before dinner. Sophia’s mom though, a sudden rush of panic fell over her, what if she got kidnapped in this weather, I'll never see her if I go look after the storm. Frantic, she called the police.
After a long week of searching, all that was found was a doll. It was a nice doll with brown eyes and dark hair. The doll looked much whiter than Sophia herself but all the rest of the facial features were similar. When they called off the search, Nicole took the doll and went back to her house in the woods crying.
“My Sophia, why did you leave me!?” Nicole shouted at the doll.
“It’s okay, I’m still here mom.” a voice came from the doll Nicole was holding.
“Now I’m hearing Sophia try to comfort me!” Nicole cried.
“I’m really here, with you in this room”
“AHH! you're the doll?!” Nicole trembled.
“Yes, Noa-”
“How dare you speak of me to this peasant” Noah roared.
Stunned, their mom just looked at the ghost floating around and the doll of Sophia.
“Now you suffer the same I did! You had to leave me outside the door in the storm!”
A smell of gas filled the room. Then Nicole realized that the fireplace was still on. Frantic, she dropped the doll shattering it into pieces and ran to put out the fire. Too late. The gas around Nicole burst into flames igniting the whole house.
“NO! I will find you and I will get you back for this!” Nicole shouted as the flames burned off every bit of skin she had leaving nothing but a pile of ashes.
