The True Story of Christopher Columbus
Born 2006, M, from PORTLAND, United StatesThe True Story Of Christopher Columbus
Why hello there!! Have you heard of Christopher Columbus discovering America? Everyone says he discovered America, but it’s time you learn the truth about him.
When Columbus and his men arrived in America, there were natives already living there. The natives thought they were angels, because of their white skin. Columbus supported this idea by telling the natives that a lunar eclipse was coming, but Columbus already knew that there was a lunar eclipse. After Columbus’ second voyage, the spanish army he brought with him had diseases that caused hundreds of thousands of Tainos to die, there was also a massacre. The natives who survived were put into slavery.
People are now celebrating Indigenous People's Day, to celebrate the people slaughtered and enslaved by Columbus’ army. A lot of cities adapted to the new holiday that replaced Columbus Day. Maybe your city should to it too, if not already have.
Christopher Columbus isn’t the first one to ‘discover’ America. Other explorers like Zheng He and Leif Eriksson got there first. And there were natives that lived generations before Columbus existed.
Now you see the truth of Columbus, he tortured the Tainos and made everyone think that he found America. But if you see the inslavery of the Tainos, you’ll think twice. You should start celebrating Indigenous Peoples Day instead of Columbus Day too.
