“This cabin is so cool Azel!” Janae said. Janae has long black hair and deep blue eyes.
“Sure is!” I said. We unpacked the car and I said goodbye to Mum. She told me to call her if anything happened. I trotted up the stairs to the front door. I put the key into the lock and turned it. I pushed open the door to see that there were a few bunk beds, a couch, kitchen and a door to the bathroom.
“This is going to be so fun!” Elia said. Elia Maxwell has green eyes and blonde hair in two braids and is so fun to be around.
“This is going to be such a good night!!” screamed Mia. She ran to the top bunk. “This is my bed”. Mia has mid length brown hair with blue eyes. Altogether us 4 have been the bestest of friends for as long as I can remember, and we all bring out the best in each other even though we all have very different personalities.
“I’ll take bottom,” said Janae.
Janae went out the front veranda with Mia to take a look around. Elia and I unpacked our thing. I took top bunk and Elia took the bottom. The bed was scratchy, but I would have to deal with it for one night.
It was pitch black outside, the fire was going, and we sat on the couch eating ice-cream and talking.
“So, did you know that Hazel and Jax are dating?” Asked Mia.
“No way.” Said Janae.
“I don’t think I was supposed to tell you but it’s true!” said Mia. We laughed.
“What should we do? I’m bored!” said Elia.
“Of course you are,” I said sarcastically.
“Oh, I know, ghost stories!” said Janae.
“No way! The last time I heard a ghost story, I got some bad vibes,” said Mia.
“Wait, what if this cabin is haunted!” said Janae in a creepy voice.
“Are you kidding me? This is so stupid!” said Elia
“There is no way this cabin is haunted. My parents used to come here every Summer,” I said. “And they’re still alive and well.”
“What if it was haunted before your parents came and it went away when they came and now they're back?” said Janae.
“I doubt it,” I said.
“Can we please go outside to take some pictures of the lake?” said Mia.
“It’s too cold, why can’t you do it yourself?” Said, Elia.
“You got me creeped out about all this ghost story stuff,” she said.
“Fine, this is seriously ridiculous” I sighed. We got up and opened the door to go outside. It was pitch black and the moon was shining through the trees.
“Ok hurry up it’s so cold out here,” said Janae.
“I’m going to die of hyperthermia. I’m going back inside” said Elia.
“We’ll be back inside soon,” I said. Elia shut the door behind her.
“The lake is so pretty!” said Mia. The lake was still and frozen. The moonlight was reflecting off of the water.
“I know its pretty, but can we please go inside its really cold,” said Janae.
“Fine,” said Mia. As Mia said that we heard a scream coming from inside. AHHHHHHHHHH! It was high pitched and sounded scared. The scream stopped.
“What was that?” said Mia.
“Was that Elia?” I said.
“We have to go and check it out,” Janae said.
“NO, no, no!” said Mia.
“We have to, Elia could be hurt,” said Janae.
“I agree”. We opened the door to get inside and it was pitch black. There was no light peeping through the curtains. I started to get goose bumps.
“Did you guys turn the light off when we went outside?” I asked
“No, we didn’t,” said Mia shakily. I placed my hand on the wall to find the switch. The wall felt cold and tickly. As I went to turn the switch on the light flickered on and off. We stood there frozen and not moving.
“OMG, OMG, we're going to die!” said Mia.
“Just remain calm,” said Janae.
“Get your phone out Mia,” I said. She got her phone out and turned on her torch. I got goose bumps thinking about what could happen. We huddled in together and took a few steps forward, looking side to side watching out for anything. The room was dusty, and it felt cold. All of a sudden, the bathroom door crept open. We stood metres away standing still not saying anything.
“What was that?” said Janae.
“Who’s there?” I yelled, “Hello?”.
“I am actually going to faint!” said Mia. We took a few steps closer to the bathroom door and SLAM! We turned around, the front door was shut.
“It was probably just the wind,” said Janae with a worry in her voice.
“How could you say that?” said Mia.
“Guys c’mon we have to stop arguing!” I said. The room went silent as we crept to the bathroom door.
“Who’s going to go in there?” said Mia.
“Not me,” said Janae.
“We are all going to go in the bathroom, ok?” I said. I pushed open the door a little bit and Mia and Janae grabbed onto me.
“We are right behind you,” they said. I pushed the door and it creaked open. We all went silent. I was lost for words. My mouth went dry. There was Elias’ dead body hanging in the shower staring right at me. The was a message drawn on the mirror with dry blood. ‘Leave or you will be next’. I nearly fell back. I pushed Mia and Janae out the way and we grabbed our phones and ran away from the cabin leaving all of our stuff behind.
