My appaloosa mare trotted down the descent road of the hillside village of Kungull. I had been travelling for a long time before I made it there. I was looking for one Lyon Tavern then, for my friends had invited me there. I saw an Old man coming my way he was smoking a cigarette.
He tipped his scruffy drifter hat and smiled as he approached nearer.
“Are you looking for some place gentleman?” He smiled as he asked.
“Lyon Tavern, sir.” I said as I tipped my hat back.
The old man nodded his head in a way that made me think that my mention of the place had worried him.
“Is there a problem sir...is it too far from here?” I asked with a hint of concern in my voice.
“Oh no, not far…it’s down the road but lately there have been bandit activities there…” said the old man smiling slyly.
“Bandits sir?” I asked feeling little uncomfortable to hear that word in an apparently deserted village.
“Yes Bandits son, they killed the tavern owner last Tuesday, now there sits his son at the counter,” the old man’s eyes widened as he spoke and a broad smile flashed across his face.
I didn’t feel like talking to the old man any further so I tipped my hat and said-
“Thank you sir… Have a good day.”
“Beware son…” he said as he continued on his way.
My mare galloped down the road. She was galloping faster and faster. Soon in a farthest corner of the road, I could see a hanging board that read ‘Lyon Tavern’. I stepped in hitting the saloon door leaving a creak behind. My Friends were gathered at a table by the window. One of them raised his beer mug with a smile as he saw me coming. He was Harry Kid, the bandit who murdered a cowboy last month and had lately killed the owner of the very tavern I was standing in then. In the coming days, we were to make quite a name for ourselves.
