Blood oozed out of the man’s mouth when he looked up only to receive another blow to his head …he screamed in agony. He was in pain …real pain but the abductors could not care any less and kept thrashing him until he completely lost his consciousness.
“ Professor , He’ll die if we keep on beating him ”, said the man in the mask hoping to get some instructions . “Is he ready to help us execute our plan, Jimmy ? ”…asked the professor. It had been half an hour since the last torture session during which the man had gained his consciousness and started to think about the possibilities to get him out of that mess. The room was dark with a window located high above near the ceiling with barely any light passing through it and the man was handcuffed to a pillar, so his plans to get out of the room were all in vain.
“No sir, we’re trying our best but it might take some time”…replied Jimmy to the professor who was still looking out of the window gazing at the grass covered with dew. The man in the mask returned and said “Oh John , dear John…look at yourself all covered in blood …I suppose you’ve lost your spark after so many years of retirement”. “Let me free and then try me bitch” came the reply of John with a sly smile. The man in the mask dragging a chair came close to him and sat down smiling. John spat in his face and said “this time you've messed with the wrong man”. Jimmy didn’t reply . He just got up and left the room . It was a terrifying ordeal for him . John knew that he had to get out of the situation as quick as possible because the children were in danger and were going to be trafficked within two days. Forty eight hours was all John was left with.
It was getting dark outside and now there was no light in the room where John was restrained. Suddenly a clicking sound was heard by him and a man entered the room closing the door very cautiously. John could barely see the man’s face because of the darkness. He came close to John and whispered in his ear “ Welcome back partner…must be good to be home”. He was familiar to the voice and it took less than a second for him to recognize it. “Vince, is it you ?” asked John hesitatingly. “OH spot on my friend …I’ve come here to get you out of this trouble just like good old days” replied Vince grinning. “But the Professor will get you killed for having betrayed him” replied John.
Vince and John had worked for the fraternity for two decades when suddenly one day John decided to leave his past behind and start a new life...a life may be less adventurous with no action at all, no more merciless killings, no more missions of infiltration but above all he knew he was going to be happy . John being very close to Vince wasn’t ready to get him into trouble and kept denying. “ Listen John nothing will happen to me, I promise, but if I don’t get you out of here soon I’d regret it for the rest of my life…..those kids need you….I’ve seen their eyes filled with sheer terror...tears streaming down their cheeks still hoping for someone to come and rescue them, replied a rather perturbed Vince” . John kept quiet for a moment until Vince had untied him and was set free to leave . His mind was still completely preoccupied of how horrifying an experience it must be for those innocent kids . Both of them sneaked out of the room. There was nobody present in the building and it seemed as if professor and his men would not return for sometime . It was the perfect time to find some clue regarding where the abducted children were kept. John was directed by Vince towards Professor’s office hoping they would certainly find something there. Both of them ran passing the dark corridor leaving behind the other eight which were leading to different locations. They didn’t have time to explore each one of them and so they came down to a mutual decision to first have a meticulous examination of the Professor’s office. It was located at the far end of the corridor. They tried to open the knob of the door but it was locked.
This was the perfect time for Vince to showcase his skills in opening locks . He examined the door knob for a while before trying to unlock it. It at first seemed to John as sorcery but before he was done with procrastinating about weird things the lock opened with a click and now they had access into the Professor’s cabin.
The room they entered was pitch dark with a window on the left still half open from which the whistling of the wind could be heard. The cold breeze soothed John for a moment but then he recollected his thoughts and got back to work. The room seemed very normal with bookshelves at one corner filled with thousands of books and manuscripts. There were statues of world’s fiercest warriors and paintings by Picasso and Leonardo Da Vinci which made the room more adorable. A green board with photographs of children pinned with colourful threads running across each other as if they were somehow linked was what caught John’s eye. He went near the board and examined it well. He could recognize some of the children and the place which looked like an under construction building similar to the one he was restrained in . The first and obvious assumption was that the children were kept in the same building in one of the rooms . John called out for Vince who was busy admiring the statues and paintings . The art collection was giving him an aesthetic pleasure . Both of them decided to exit the room and look for the children dividing four corridors for each one of them. It would lessen the work and they would be able to save the children in time.
Vince opened the door quickly. A man was standing in front of him in a black suit which contoured perfectly to his chiseled physique . He looked at both of them with a stern face cleverly concealing the austereness with a diabolic smile which clearly sent shivers down the spines of both John and Vince……"Voilà, did you find something of importance here John and Vince", said the Professor.
