Where I came from, I cannot tell. The rivers I have crossed long and old and deep and wide, without number. I have been known and not known at all. I have no beginning and I have no end, I seek yet it is not my seeking that matters, it is my being found.
I am all things and yet nothing. I have been called by many names, but what is in a name? It is the doing, doing is all that matters. I have called many places home and yet none. What am I?
A puzzle of the ages and yet often known and often tossed away. How can I describe my self as I appear in many forms and shown by the nature of the doing. For now, at least in this telling call me the key.
He went to his room, rambling under his breath, anger, his old friend wrapped around him as his daily cloak. He realized he was in a game beyond his skill, and he had been put in check by a woman.
A woman, the lowest of all beings, meant to spread legs and drop bundles of lust. A women out maneuvered him, a hate boiled as none other. She had made him look both incompetent and foolish. A sin he must not let go unpunished.
Yet she was not alone, she had help from those he called friend. The man who led the right could have whipped past his foolish mistake. He could have delivered him the teeth of the shark and he stood back sneering.
A attitude of you made your bed now sleep in it. Knowing full well he could not retaliate. Knowing as he stood by silent he was still needed to accomplish any plan.
He laid on his bed, not even taking off his shoes. He could not sleep, anger boiled in his soul. Then darkness wrapped it's arm around him. Some unknown spirit, did not lift him but pulled, tugged, dragged him down.
He found himself standing in a cell, bars of fire. Flames licking around his cell. The heat not burning his flesh, yet burning him beyond his flesh.
He saw he was not alone, the cell was full of men, dressed in all manner of ways, robes of silk, and others in shining armor. At least one he saw he knew. He knew him from the road he had taken. He was his idol, the things he sought for that man had all but grasped.
They stood as one bowing to him, welcome dark lord they spake, then rolled back on bended knees and laughed. They stepped away to sit on flaming benches. One in a long silk robe of the finest gold braided into, laughed and said, you fool.
He hung his head, I know beat by a woman and a man I thought was my friend and champion. The one in a beautiful uniform, with his small bush of a mustache, smiled, idiot, they are not why you are a fool.
You have done this to yourself. You as all of us and so many that flock to hear your blabbering words. You and they idiots seeking and never finding, gathering and never enough, desiring and yet wanting. What was most needed and important you never knew and won't ever find.
I demand to be let loose of this place, I am the leader of the greatest power on earth. To that they all laughed. The man in silk walked up and spit on his shoes. I was a man much richer then you, I had respect and I had power. You are nothing as to all I had at my fingers.
Yet I begged, I was brought to my knees and begged. I asked just to have a beggar sent to warn my brother. I begged for just a drop of water. Yet you see me now here, and all I had was nothing.
The one in the uniform, spat, I had the greatest armies in the world. People saluted at me in the streets. I led a great nation and conquered more. Yet all was lost and I walked through the gate to end here.
A man in a white robe stood, his neck scared, his beard long and unkept. I walked with him, I sung with him, I saw him raise the dead, open blind eyes, and banish Devils. I knew his touch and for the same power you all sought so did I. For thirty pieces of silver I bought my way into this place. The lesson he taught I ignored, you come into the world naked and thus you leave it so.
I want, he shouted, someone let me out now! The laugh, I hung by him on the cross, he saved my mate and left me to this end. You want a way out, you should be asking how do I keep from making this my home? Said a tall man that looked as if he had seen many battles.
He saw a lock on the door. A flaming keyhole, he shouted who has the key? The laughing, we sure don't have it, they said as one.
A man stood in a black robe that touched the ground. A white collar around his neck. The key is not here, if you are allowed back perhaps you might find it.
Yet I see a truth, the key is beyond your reach. You do not have the capacity to recognize it. Though it is not hidden. I doubt you have the ability to hold it, grasp it, or understand it.
You man, speak up what is this key and why would I not know it? The weary look on the mans face.
I thought I understood it, I thought I was devoted too it. Even when I took the little boys and had them on knees giving me pleasure I thought in some way this was part of it. When I tore down their pants and violated them I whispered the word, I said, I "........." And yet it was never in my palm.
You stupid morons, do you know who I am? The people would bow to me even if I shot a man on the streets. They call me master even as I rob them of dignity and make their morals as ashes. I know that word, you called and I am it. Ask those that adore me and lift me up? I am the nations savior.
One who sit on a flaming bench, head in his hands, as he laughed like a crazy man. You dim witted fool, have you not heard. What will you give in exchange for your soul?
I washed my hands as they led him away. I said, I am not to blame, his blood is on you. I shouted, I see no reason he should die. Yet I did not stop it, I did nothing but make a show. You oh showman, are not going to like the last act.
He shouted you have given up, I will fight this.
A man stood speaking with a Russian accent. I stand here before you, a man that beat the mustache man yonder. I fought even killing my own people if they failed to push forward. This is just the holding cells you poor excuse of a dark lord. You have nothing compared to any of us in this room. Yet you are held with us to make us smell your cowardliness.
There is lake, it burns and that is our ending place. Look down the hall, see those that followed you? Listen to their screams. You led them here and they willing followed.
He felt his self being lifted. Is there no hope? A snicker as if by one. The last words from the place, find the key.
I was once known by many, now I have been tossed away. Fakes and substitutes, imposters are sold as the real thing. Men say it to blushing brides, then cheat on them with their sisters. Parents say it to their children while they neglect and abuse them.
Preachers claim they know it and have and claim it is free to all, while they rape the people for profits.
Yet here I stand, asking more to discover me. If only they would get greedy for me instead of money and things. If only they would lust for me as they do carnal pleasure.
I stand ready to deliver you, even him, the dark lord, but no you won't touch this key.
This key causes you to see yourself as you are and opened the way to putting others first. You scoff at such a notion, and thus I, the key,am far from your grasp.
