Jason and JJ were eating pizza at the Pizza Palace. ‘’Are you going to come over tonight and watch a movie?’’ asked Jason. ‘’I plan on coming over, but I may go to sleep shortly after the movie starts. I don’t what it is, but lately movies have not been holding my interest,’’ said JJ. ‘’ Could watch tv or cuddle up together until we go to sleep,’’ said Jason. ‘’The second one might work better since we have school tomorrow,’’ said JJ with a smile on face. ‘’Guess what next week is,’’ said Jason. ‘’Spring Break,’’ said JJ and Jason together with excitement
JJ got a text message from her mother. ‘’Mom wants me to meet her and Ashley at 227 Oliver Street,’’ said JJ with a puzzled look her face. ‘’Do you want me to come with you?’’ asked Jason. ‘’No, it will be ok,’’ say JJ getting up from the table. ‘’Then I will see you tonight,’’ said Jason. JJ walked over kissed Jason on the cheek and left the restaurant.
JJ walked up the steps to the house at 227 Oliver and rang the doorbell. After waiting for someone to open the door, she checked her phone again to verify that she was at the right address. ‘’I am at the right place,’’ said JJ to herself as she turned the doorknob and went into the house. ‘’Mom! Ashley!’’ called out JJ as she did a room to room search. ‘’This is weird,’’ said JJ to herself as she checked the last room. ‘’Look at the view,’’ said JJ as she paused and looked out the window. ‘’I take it you are going to like your new room,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’Oh my gosh, mom! You scared me. Please don’t ever do that again. You almost made me pee in my pants!’’ exclaimed JJ. ‘’I am sorry honey. I wanted to give you a chance to see our new house,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’New house,’’ said JJ with a puzzled look on her face. ‘’Yes, honey, this is going to be our new house,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’Are we going to be able to afford it?’’ asked JJ with a worried look on her face. ‘’Honey there is nothing to worry about. I am going to be using money we got from the insurance company after the tornado and money from the sell of the restaurant,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’Whoa-whoa, slow down. You are selling the restaurant. But why?’’ asked JJ. ‘’It has been almost eight years since your father died and I feel like it is time to put the past behind us. Friday will be our last day’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’What are you going to do?’’ asked JJ. ‘’I am going to start working at Fashion Cents,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’Fashion Cents! No Way! Oh my gosh! I love that place,’’ said JJ with excitement. ‘’That’s not all,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’There’s more,’’ said JJ. ‘’I talked to Bob and Sue Calloway and you will be spending Spring Break on an out of town trip with them. We thought that after all you have been through the past several months a change of scenery would be good for you,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’Oh my gosh! This is so exciting! Do you know where I will be going?’’ asked JJ with a smile on her face. ‘’They didn’t tell me,’’ said Ms. Tanner. ‘’It doesn’t matter. I am just so excited,’’ said JJ.
Jason was in bed watching tv. JJ. climbed through the bedroom window. She took off her shoes, socks, and unbuttoned her jeans. ‘’Don’t get excited you are not going to see anything. I am wearing jammie bottoms underneath my jeans,’’ said JJ as she pulled down her jeans ‘’Just my luck,’’ said Jason teasing JJ. ‘’Better luck next time,’’ said JJ smiling as she pulled the covers back and got into bed. ‘’Mom talked to your parents and I am going with you on your out of town vacation. I hope it is Resort City’’ said JJ ‘’Sorry, we are not going to Resort City,’’ said Jason. ‘’So where are we going?’’ asked JJ. ‘’We are going to Big Bend. Grandma Sophia has always wanted to stay at Big Bend for a couple of nights. She is getting up in age and my parents thought that now would be a good time time to do it,’’ said Jason. ‘’When you say Big Bend are we talking about the lodge up in the mountains with an indoor Jacuzzi?’’ asked JJ. ‘’That’s the one,’’ said Jason. ‘’This is going to be exciting, fresh mountain air, relaxing in a Jacuzzi, and cuddling up beside a fireplace,’’ said JJ.
Jason and JJ were cuddled up in bed watching tv. ‘’I really enjoyed going to Big Bend,’’ said JJ. ‘’Me too,’’ said Jason. JJ cuddled up closer to Jason. ‘’Now don’t forget next Saturday, sleepover at my house in my new room, said JJ. ‘’I don’t know about sleeping in a girl’s bed,’’ said Jason teasing JJ. ‘’Don’t know about sleeping in a girl’s bed. Are you freaking kidding me?’’ exclaimed JJ. ‘’What?’’ asked Jason. ‘’For almost nine years ever Friday, Saturday, and whenever the mood hit me I have slept in a boy’s bed and you can’t even spend one night with me in my new room,’’ said JJ getting up and putting her shoes home. ‘’Where are you going?’’ asked Jason. ‘’To my girl’s bed,’’ said JJ starting to walk off. ‘’JJ, I am sorry. I will spend next Saturday night with you in your new room, said Jason. ‘’Gotcha,’’ said JJ turning around with a big smile on her face. ‘’Y, you little,’’ said Jason getting up and pushing JJ on to the bed. “Stop, I give up’’ exclaimed JJ giggling as Jason tickled her. ‘’I hope we have this much fun when we get married’’ said JJ with a smile on her face looking at Jason. ‘’It will be,’’ said Jason. ‘’You know what it is weird?’’ asked JJ. ‘’What?’’ asked Jason. ‘’We horse around, sleep together, but have never done it. Although there are some like Grant Perkins and several at the Dockside Baptist Church think we do it all the time,’’ said JJ. ‘Maybe they are jealous,’’ said Jason. ‘’Jealous! You know what? Let’s just drop this conversation and cuddle,’’ said JJ rolling over.
JJ stood looking at the Dockside Restaurant with the sign posted under new management. Jason walked up beside her. ‘’Is everything ok?’’ asked Jason. “It will be,’’ said JJ with a sigh. ‘’Baby, what is wrong?’’ asked Jason putting his arm around her. ‘’I always blamed the restaurant for my father’s death and wished it was gone. Now that it has been sold, it is like I never appreciated all the hard work my parents put into it,’’ said JJ starting to cry.
Jason and JJ walked into the Dockside Family Restaurant. ‘’Oh my gosh,’’ gasped JJ as she noticed pictures of her parents, Ashley, and her hanging on the wall behind the counter. They sat down at a table and waited to be served. Lamont James walked up carrying menus. ‘’What do you think?’’ asked Lamont. ‘’It is unbelievable,’’ said JJ trying to keep from crying. ‘’I saw your mom was struggling financially and after what your father did for me and my family I couldn’t let the county foreclose on the property and sell it on the courthouse square,’’ said Lamont. ‘’What are your plans?’’ asked JJ. ‘’As long as the good Lord blesses me with health, I am going to run this restaurant as the Dockside Restaurant, then when I am no longer able to hopefully someone in my family or yours will pick it up and continue the legacy your parents started,’’ said Lamont. ‘’Thank you,’’ said JJ getting up and hugging Lamont with tears running down her cheek.
