Abused(Wendoly Oviedo) Hi, I'm Alice I'm 21 and I'm here today because I was sexually assaulted multiple times by my cousin and my uncle. When I was younger my older cousin and my aunt lived with me when they moved to this country. My cousin would constantly take advantage of me. I was always confused because I had no clue what was happening. I was just an ignorant little girl but I knew that what was happening was wrong. I told him that I didn't want to do it anymore but he would threaten me when I wouldn't comply. I hated it so much. I would cry myself to sleep at night. I felt like I was an object. I felt worthless. Things only got worse when my uncle started. He wanted me to touch him in ways that no child should and when I said no, that I wouldn't… he slapped me. I tried to run but then he beat me and forced me to do things that I hated. My cousin would always threaten me but he never really did anything. When I got home I took a handful of sleeping pills and went to bed. After that I woke up in the hospital with my mom holding my hand while she cried. I was told that I was lucky to be alive. I told my mom what happened and now both my uncle and cousin are in prison. I've been going to therapy for years now and I have been getting alot better. I thought that I was never going to be happy again but now I have a beautiful home, a good and happy relationship, and a loving family. This makes me think that anyone could be happy.
