I often wonder why “Acts of God” are always disasters: Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Flowing Lava, floods, Forest Fires, Earthquakes. They even have Legal Status and carry weight with Insurance companies. I saw three “Acts of God” today- and not one was a disaster.
I saw a man be kind to a stranger. He just handed the man a Happy Meal Bag and a coke. He didn’t stop there. He sat down on the curb next to the man and started eating his own happy meal. There was laughter, tears, some quiet moments... the meal ended with a hug.
I watched a woman wait patiently for her husband, a wounded warrior, to put his prosthesis on so he could come around and open her door. He was wounded, but still a gentleman. She was still his wife, lover, and best friend, so she waited. Her smile was soft and warm when he opened her door.
I saw a little boy maybe five or six years old give half his popsicle to his slightly older sister. Hers fell out of her hand and landed in a small puddle near the swing set, it was too muddy and dirty to eat after that. She didn’t even have time to cry before he broke his popsicle in two. She thanked him and they walked over to a picnic table hand in hand.
You tell me which are Acts of God. I think I know.
