Nobody knew his name. That alone was strange in this world of Twitter, FACEBOOK, and Social Media. All they had were pictures. He showed up almost every time there was a shooting. Sometimes he was killed. Sometimes he walked away. Sometimes he faced the Cameras and said the same thing he said to the Shooters in Schools, Malls, Churches, Synagogues, Dance Clubs, and even neighborhood Parties.
He said the same thing to the Police when they shot someone in a car, a bar, at a traffic stop, or convenient store. He said the same thing to the rioters and troops of every country. The same thing, different languages, different cultures, same message.
It is a message that caught on, or as the kids would say: it went Viral. More and more people are following that message. Gangs facing each other wearing T-shirts with the same saying that nameless- but not faceless- man said over and over again. In a strained silence the gangs took the first tentative steps… to do what he said, what their shirts said, what the tweets were saying.
We don’t need a government, a law, or an Authority figure to do what he asked, what our shirts say, what our hearts, minds, and souls are crying in pain for. He was only one person. Every member of every gang in the world, sanctioned or unsanctioned is an individual. He said what we needed to do. So we did.
