Because Of Elmond Block
The day started out like every other day. I was strolling down the sidewalk then I saw some shake in bushes and I saw a police officer chasing after it. I heard the police officer scream “get that cat you don’t belong here you belong in the pet store”. Then suddenly I felt bad for the cat… “officer its my cat” I yelled.

“Okay, what's its name’’ said the officer like a know-it-all

I saw a sign that that said Elmond Block ahead. Then I got it “Elmond Block“ would be the name of the cat. “Elmond, Elmond block” I yelled.

The cat came out of the bushes and jumped on me. It smelled bad and had some bald spots. When I brought the cat home my mom was surprised because instead of going for a quick walk I came home with a cat. I begged my mom to keep it and at last, she said yes. I gave it a good wash but I didn’t know what to do about the bald spots.

My brother and my dad moved out when I was young but mom would not tell why they left. Ever since then my mom never really spoke or danced freely. We moved to a new town so I didn’t have any friends. The next day I, well Elmond and I walked over to the Kira Main Library. “Hi Mrs. Kira” I waved.
“Hi deary, aren’t you supposed to be in school by now?” she asked, like I was going to a movie theater on Monday morning.

“Its Saturday,” I said awkwardly.

Then Alan Tebbits barged up, I need a book,” he yelled. "A longer one" said Mrs. Kira with a sigh. She handed Alan the thickest book I have ever seen. Soon, it started raining. I asked if I could bring Elmond inside .“Sure but he has to behave.”

“He will,” I said staring at Elmond.

Then he gave me this funny look like he was going to vomit but luckily he didn’t. Since I was new to this town I had no friends but I had a best friend which was Elmond.

One night the house started shaking. I could not find Elmond anywhere. The earth was shaking even harder and the roof almost fell on me but I did a turtle tuck. “IT’S AN EARTHQUAKE,” I heard someone yell from outside.

The thing that I felt most worried about was Elmond. What if he was trapped? I had so many “what ifs.” I saw my mom running toward me and she helped me off the floor. Then the earth stopped shaking. The next minute I ran to find Elmond. We could not find him anywhere. We searched the highways. We even walked all the way to downtown. “It’s time we give up,” said mom.

Then my worries turned into anger. I started yelling at my mom. “Amy Butler do not raise your voice at me like that” yelled mom. I guess he had a very bad fear of things moving all by themselves. We went back home and I went back to bed. The next minute I heard a meow coming from outside. I ran out the front door and found Elmond Tangled in yarn. “I missed you so much,” I said happily.

“Now, let’s find a way to get you out of this yarn. By the time we got back inside it was 2:00 in the morning.
“Merry Christmas Eve,” said mom “I know it was kind of sad losing Elmond so I got you a new cat,” said mom.

“Thanks but I already found Elmond”

“Well now you have two cats to take care of”

Immediately, we heard a knock on the door. It was my brother and my dad. Dad gave me a big bear hug.
“It’s a miracle. MY dad and brother made it before Christmas.” It was the most magical holiday I had ever experienced!
