There was only one thing that Noshten hated more than his surname Ember, and that was the gargoyle that projected from the gutter of the building in front of him, at that very moment. Seekos City wasn't a mere place that catered to humans and half human-half somethings, it was in fact a town to which, with all its vintage vibes; the most grotesque-faced creatures called home. Noshten glanced at a tall figure walking towards him; a rather timid looking man, his right hand hidden under his coat pocket, while the other swaying freely as he walked. Noshten wasn't used to formal greetings and so when the timid man tipped his hat, he struggled and forced a smile then looked away; the last thing he wanted was to chat with some chap, apparently full of insecurities. Even if he wanted though, he couldn't; for a 'lack of company' was what he'd promised to himself- the lonely air around him, saved him of the shame... he'd have otherwise felt doing what he did.
"Hi, I'm Lob," said the man as he reached out his hand; Noshten stared back grimly, then without taking his hand, turned his gaze.
"Looks like you're waitin' for the bus, huh?" asked the man, taking his hand back, while his other hand still hidden under his coat.
"What's with your right hand? You hidin' a diamond or somethin'?" asked Noshten completely ignoring his question.
"Psst, that...The thing is...though I look human...Mostly... but I'm a non-human, it's my right hand that gives it away…" chuckled the man casually.
"Oh, so there's somethin' unique 'bout ya' after all, " teased Noshten with a sly smile," what's your speciality, then?"
"Ah... I got nothin' fancy like other half-humans in the town...You know the wings...The pretentious horns...I just got this…," said the man as he showed his right hand,"a lobster-like pincher claw for a hand…"
The moment Noshten saw the man's hand, his eyes widened as the mild smile on the man's face, slowly turned into a sinister grin; in that moment they both knew what had crossed their minds.
"You murdered the human couple at Ohuru Street, you're the criminal Lobster Hand…" hardly had Noshten said so, when the man held his neck in the grip of his claw and pressed.
Noshten's eyes began to bulge as he gasped for breath and in those moments of extreme suffering he heard the rush of the approaching bus.
The newspapers the following morning would tell the humans and half-humans of Seekos City that the wanted criminal, Lobster Hand died in an accident; the newspapers would report that, the half-human criminal spent his last days in a lack of company.
