Raining Cats and Dogs
I wake up to heavy thuds on the roof of my house one morning and i look outside my bedroom window to a bizarre sight: It was actually raining cats and dogs!! There were all kinds of cat and dogs falling from the sky, from babies to adults, just pouring down from the sky. When they landed i saw that the animals didn't get hurt at all, no scratches and no damage at all, it was very strange and amazing to see.

I quickly get dressed and walk out my front door, looking at all the dogs and cats on my lawn all around my neighborhood. My neighbors saw this too and were amazed as i was to actually see this strange weather phenomenon happening right in front of us. I picked up a male adult French Bulldog and took it inside my house to examine it. It was all brown with sky blue eyes and looked healthy, it started smelling my hands and then licked my face.

I decided to keep the dog and named him Rex. I then go back outside and see my neighbors and their children stare in awe at the still ongoing cats and dogs weather, neighbors hold up their phones recording the weather. I go inside my house and turned on the tv to the weather channel, a amazed weather man exclaims that there has never been any weather like this and that we will never forget anything like this. He also warns that we should all stay in our homes so as to not get hurt from the falling animals. Rex comes in and looks at me and then the tv, then he wags his tail and barks happily at me. It's almost like he understands what's going on and he is ok with it. I picked up Rex and pet him until he falls asleep in my lap. Pretty soon, i fell asleep too.

A couple hours later, i woke up and looked down at my lap and Rex was still asleep in my lap. I thought about what i saw today and had a feeling i would not see weather like that ever again. It was a strange day indeed.

Thanks for a nice and very interesting story. The sentence assuring your readers that the cats and dogs were unhurt was so considerate. A fun read!

I think this would be a fun story for kids to read, Zac. It's a bit silly and playful, and I love the pic you chose for it.
As far as improvement suggestions, I would just say to watch out not to mix present and past tense in the same sentence or the same story you're telling, because it can get a bit confusing for readers. Thanks for sharing your story on Storystar, Zac.

It is different for each story. It is your choice. But when you choose one you need to be consistent with it. If you're telling a story that happened in the past then all of your action words need to be past tense. IE: I walked to the window, looked out, and gasped./ If you're telling a story as it is happening, present tense, then you would say: I walk to the window, look out, and gasp. / But when you tell it one way or the other, stick with it. If you mix up your past and present tense in the same sentence, paragraph or story, it can be confusing for those who are reading it. Hope this helps.
