“Bet you can’t catch me!” my big brother, Joe said. “That is not fair!” I shouted. By the way my name is Howard. Howard Howell. My friends call me Wolf Boy since I have really pointy ears. So, anyway back to the story. I tripped and rolled down a hill into the woods. “Joe?” I called. No response. Then I gasped, I recognized this place. It was called Howling Woods. There was a legend about a Wolf living in the woods. Waiting to jump out and strike. Suddenly I heard a growl “You should not be here.” I screamed and ran back up the hill. Never looking back to see what was behind me.
I ran to school and went to class. Later, after the bell rang, I was walking home. “Ow!” I shouted as I tripped. I looked up, it was my big brother Joe. “Stop messing around Joe, We have work to do!” I said. We walked toward our house. “Hey Wolf Boy!” someone shouted. I didn’t respond. I opened the door to the house and stepped in. I took off my shoes and ran up stairs. When I opened my room door, I saw my mom sitting at the desk. “Hi honey,” she said. “Hey” I responded. “Your grandfather sent a letter regarding you going to his cabin at Howling Woods,” she said. “WHAT!” I shouted. “Don’t yell,” she said. “But I am scared of wolves and there are a lot of wolves there!” I screamed. “Just Go.” she said in a higher voice. You see, if my mom gets to her highest voice you are in very big trouble. “FINE” I said.
I climbed into the city bus. I took a long ride. “Howard!” my grandfather shouted as I exited the bus. “Hey grandpa!” I said. "I hardly even recognize this place." I heard a howl in the distance. I shivered and walked toward grandpa’s cottage. I opened the door and peered inside. I walked to my room. I looked at the pictures on the wall. They were pictures of wolves. “Dinner!” grandpa shouted. That night after dinner I fell on my bed. “Howard...Howard…” I heard a moan. “Who is there” I tried to yell but it came out as a whisper. I looked out the window and saw a dark shape. I saw it eating an animal. I tried to shout but nothing came out. I ran to my grandpa’s room and I jumped in. No one was there. I was shivering. I ran out onto the lawn and saw a big furry beast. I screamed and the beast came charging at me. I ran to the bus station just in time. I climbed onto the bus and the bus was off! I looked back. The beast howled in defeat.
I arrived home and climbed the stairs. I saw the screen open. There was a picture that showed a Werewolf running around town. I had to stop this! I went to my room and started making a plan. I got some chicken wings. I went to the place where the Werewolf was. I found a big manhole. I set the trap. The Werewolf came charging out. It ate the chicken wings one by one. Until it reached the manhole. I pushed it in. It fell into the manhole with a howl. I quickly shut the lid and locked it. I ran off to the bus station.
When I got home I saw my mom sitting at the kitchen table. “MOM!” I shouted and gave her a hug. That night we had mac & cheese and orange juice. I went to sleep after dinner. I was happily sleeping when I heard a voice in my head saying, "I am watching you, Howard."
