They arrived at the gallery wing of the Palazzo Borghese Palace just in time to see Father Mallo come out of the palace with a security guard. “I swear it was a ghost.” Serena could hear the security guard say. “Ah Father Poe, it’s nice to see you again. We have had quite the situation here and we think Giuseppe is the cause of it. Follow me.” Father Mallo said as we all followed him into the Palace. “There has been a lot that has happened today. We will start here, I will let you explain what happened Alex.” Father Mallo said as he stepped back and let Alex step in front of us. “The weirdest thing occurred in this room today.” Alex said as he led Serena and the others down a staircase and into a large room. As soon as Serena stepped off the last step of the staircase and entered the room she knew something felt off. Alex led us to the center of the room and Serena instantly knew why she felt off. There was an empty bed sculpture that was missing the statue of the person the bed was dedicated to. The empty bed was surrounded by concrete slabs and was covered in concrete dust. Serena knew the scene all too well now from dealing with Giuseppe. “The statue of Pauline Bonaparte once laid here. Are you familiar with the history of this palace and who Pauline is?” Alex asked as Serena and the others shook their heads no. “I will give you a little history about this palace then before I continue. So, this palace was built in the 1400s. It was purchased by Pope Paul V in 1604 until he gave the property over to his brothers. It was inherited in the 19th century by Camillo Borghese who is a member of the royal Borghese family. Camillo was the 6th prince of Sulmona and was also married to Pauline Bonaparte who is Napoleon’s sister. Pauline and Camillo ended up divorcing which left Camillo all alone in this palace. After a few months, Pauline convinced the Pope to persuade Camillo to come back to her. Camillo reluctantly took her back and she later died in this palace from tuberculosis.” Alex said as he gestured around him. “Now onto what I witnessed today.” Alex said as he started pacing back and forth. “It started out just like any other day. I just got on shift and was told I would be guarding the Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victix statue today. Now we aren’t open to the public anymore only by appointment. I was guarding the statue when I heard a code blue come in about a guard finding an open window that wasn’t supposed to be open. They called for all security guards so I left my post to go assist. They ended up calling it a false alarm so I went back to my post. Now let’s get into the weird part that happened today and the reason why the Pauline Bonaparte as Venus Victix statue isn’t here. I observed an ordinary looking guy wearing a tan short and orange shorts. He was staring intently at the Pauline Bonaparte statue when all of a sudden an older gentleman with a beard came up to him. The man with the beard whispered something to him and the guy in the orange shorts shook his head in agreement. The guy in the orange shorts then pulled out a leather book and started flipping through the book. I figured they were looking the statue up in the book but then they landed on a page and started chanting something.” The security guard said as Serena watched Father Poe and Father Mallo exchange glances. “Did you hear what they chanted?” Father Poe concerningly asked but the security guard shook his head no. “Okay. What happened after they started chanting whatever they said?” Father Poe asked as Serena could feel herself starting to get butterflies. “The statue of Pauline Bonaparte started cracking and slabs of concrete fell all over the floor. Once the statue cracked open, a beautiful young lady emerged from the statue shell. She said something to the 2 guys and they walked off leaving the empty stone bed unoccupied. I was in so much shock because I literally saw a man chant a spell and then a woman formed out of our most beloved statue at this palace. Then something even weirder happened.” Alex said as he motioned everyone to follow him up the staircase. “What other worse thing could have possibly happened?” Jonah muttered to Serena as she shrugged her shoulders and climbed up the last step of the staircase. “I was so in shock, I couldn’t function enough to report the incident before another code 3 was called. This time the call came in for a suspicious statue on the second floor. I ran up these steps and found this statue holding a note in the middle of this room.” Alex said as Serena’s jaw dropped open. In the middle of the room stood Oceanus casted back into his marble form just like he looked when Giuseppe freed him from the Trevi Fountain. “Well, looks like Giuseppe has a girlfriend now.” Father Poe said as he walked around observing Oceanus.
