Absurdist Narrative
Born 1988, M, from Biratnagar, Nepal....I am standing right by the table. The boss is on the phone with someone of great importance to him. I just want to get a few letters signed. He still is on the phone, a long conversation or so it seems. I am standing straight, right by his table. His conversation looks never ending to me. Ok, maybe he is going to hang up.
Oh, no, his landline is now ringing. Should I go now and may be come back in a few minutes. It seems he will need a good few minutes to wrap up the calls. But I am here since 10 minutes already. What will he think of me? Forget about him having a thought about me, he might not even allow me to leave the room for I have already placed the letters in front of him on his table, and he’s noticed it few minutes ago.
May be I can make something out, a reason to leave the room and eventually leave the room. Should I tell him that a client is at my desk? He’s waiting for me. He needs to get his draft done soon so that a letter can be produced after which will then require a signature of approval from the boss. But wait, will he even listen, he’s on his phone and the landline is ringing non-stop.
Thank god, he’s done with the mobile phone but why isn’t he picking up his landline. It would be good if the line gets cut.
He picked it up, oh well, never mind. Please god, let it be a short one.
What! That was four years ago?
And I no longer work there.
Oh, lord. It felt so real.
That doesn’t even make any sense.
When will I stop revisiting my painful memories?
