How us girls think

By Gracie
Teen, F, from Tyler, Tx, United States

How us girls think
Have you ever just looked at yourself and felt so alone and ashamed? Hi, I'm Gracie Jean and this is my short story. I grew up with the pressure to be "perfect" but let's face it not everyone is like Hannah Montana am I right? But I was always under the pressure to look, act, talk like my mom! Everyone always was like oh honey don't eat that or honey don't dress like that because you'll never look like your mom. All I wanted to do was scream and say I'm not my mom! As I got older I hit puberty earlier than any other girl in my class and I was ashamed and embarrassed. I was growing and couldn't stop, before I know it I'm in 6th grade wearing a size 12 in pants. All of the girls were not even close to that size, I felt so alone because no one knew what was like to be like me... So I thought. I got a little older and this girl came to my school named Courtney she was bigger for her size, but I absolutely adored her, she had confidence I have always wanted, wore the clothes that "we weren't supposed to wear" and look amazing, she was comfortable in her own skin and didn't let the "world" define her. I ran up to her one day and said how do you do it. She looked confused and said do what? I said how can you be so confident, I want to know, Is there someone I talk to, something I take? She started laughing and said No! Just be yourself and people will love you for who YOU are. Just because girls like us live in a size two world doesn't mean we can't act like them and lower ourselves esteem it means to rise to the occasion. That really spoke to me. That next morning I wore an outfit I would have never dared to wear and strutted my stuff comfortable for the first time and tried to remember those wise words throughout my day. It didn't work the first day and it didn't work two weeks later or even a whole two months but people started to accept me and fall in love with me, Gracie Jean!

This is a rough draft, please don't judge I just hope you all like it so far!

I totally relate to this! Please always keep being you! There are too many fakes in this world, and we need real people like you!
