THAT RIGHT PERSON
THAT RIGHT PERSON

Gina is a teenage girl who thinks she is in love. She is a very beautiful dark skinned girl with natural hair and is 15 years in Grade 10. In three years, she had had crushes on 12 boys and now she is having a crush on boy named Dave. As for Dave, I’m so sure he’s the person I’m going to spend my entire life with (says Gina to herself). He’s different from the other boys she adds.
“His smile is just perfect, his lips are pink, his abs are very sexy, his hair is long and soft and his eyes are blue and beautiful”, she cried. I can no longer hide my feelings for him. I have to tell him now. (She picks her phone and sends him a message about her feelings for him.) After five minutes, she received a message from him. He told her all the sweet words and ended it with, "I’m really really sorry but I’m having a girlfriend that I’m madly in love with." This broke the heart of Gina. So she couldn’t go to school for about a month.

After staying at home for this period she went back to school. Ironically, everyone in school stared at her as if she was a new student which made her feel something was not right. Gina rushed to her class and asked her colleagues what was going on. They laughed for about five minutes and finally told her the news was everywhere that she proposed to Dave. She was dumbfounded when she heard this. She dashed to the washroom, locked the door and cried her heart out until school was over.

When Gina got home, her parents noticed she wasn’t herself and upon questioning her she said she felt bodily pains. Her mum then gave her some painkillers to help alleviate the pains she claimed she was feeling. She slept after taking the painkillers and didn’t even eat her dinner.
The next day, which was Tuesday, she felt kind of strong and okay so she took the bold step to go to school. People still stared at her but she didn’t care a little bit. All she did was listened to her teachers as they were teaching her and spent all her breaks in the class reading a book titled THE PERSON which she had borrowed from the library earlier. The book was about a girl who loved a certain boy so much but the boy was also in love with a different girl but in the end the boy and the girl became one and lived happily ever after. This book really made her have high hopes that she and Dave were meant for each other.

The academic year had finally ended and there was going to be an end of year party. Every year, boys select the girls they want to go with to this party. All the girls who do not get dates cannot go for the party.
Gina was very sure she wasn’t going to get a date because at last year’s party she threw up on her date which made boys not want to get close to her. The party is on Saturday and it’s Wednesday today. I know no one will propose to me because of what happened last year, thought Gina.
(Phone rings and Gina answers the call)
Boy: Hello
Gina: Hi, please who’s this?
Boy: It’s me Dave and I’m sorry for what happened.
Gina: Oh its okay I forgave you long ago.
Boy: Thank you so much Gina
Gina: You’re welcome. Erm.. to what do I owe this call?
Boy: I just want to apologize and ask you if you can go with me to the end of year party
Gina: Dave, you have a girlfriend, I think it’ll be better if you go with her instead.
Boy: I wish I could but we broke up just yesterday. Gina please go with me, please you’re the one I want.
Gina: Okay! Can you give me some time to think about it?
Boy: Okay please don’t keep me waiting for too long and once again I apologize for what happened the last time.
Gina: I can’t promise but I’ll try.
Boy: Okay bye
Gina: Bye
Gina still couldn’t believe that after everything that had happened Dave asked her to go with him to the party.

Saturday came and Gina agreed to go with Dave. At the party, they were together the whole time talking about themselves and the feelings they were having for each other. Dave asked Gina if they can date and she shouted YESSSSSSSSS. That was the happiest day of her life.
They started dating and five months into their relationship, Gina received a call from Dave’s parents that Dave was involved in a car accident and had lost his life. Gina didn’t know what to do. To herself she cried all the tears she could cry but he never came back to life.

She met a boy named Andy on her way to school one day and fell in love with him at first sight.
Gina said to herself “Dave wasn’t that person after all, I’m sure Andy is”.
