Look what I found
Born 1953, F, from Auckland, New ZealandSamual came home very excited after a long day at the learning centre.
“Mum mum look at what I found.“
”That’s weird, I wonder what it is and where exactly did you find it?” Said his mum.
“I found it on the pavement, I wonder how it got there?"
Dad came home and Samual was very excited to show him what he had found.
His dad was perplexed and had a worried look on his face.
Looking at the item and examining it close up, you could see it bothered him.
This circular piece of something with four identical holes right in the centre.
“I think you have found an artefact by the looks of it. Looks like it has little bits of soil in it and there is no soil around here.”
”Wash your hands and do not touch it again” he said in a panicked voice.
Samuel's dad was extremely clever so he thought he had better take heed of what he was saying.
His dad swiped his hand and asked to speak to the authorities.
In less than an hour, the authorities had arrived and removed the item.
Samual couldn’t wait for them to analyse it.
The next day at the learning centre he told everyone about his discovery.
The other children were intrigued and the whole learning centre waited for the results.
Two days passed and the results were in. An official slide appeared on Samual's hand just before it was time to wander home.
The slide read.

Thank you, Samual, for informing us of your find, and I must say a very exciting find it is.
The item you found is, in fact, an artefact and important part of our history.
As you know, approximately 200 years ago our history was lost when 99% of our population on earth was wiped out by a virus. A virus called COVID-19.
After examination and researching the item, we have come to the conclusion that it is called a button. We calculated its age at approximately 200 years old.
Around the time the earth went through it's Covid-19 destructive cycle.
It is an accessory used on clothing to attach one side to the other. We would like to know the exact position you found the item so as we can excavate the area.
Our scientists are keen to get started on this project immediately.
Samual was a hero in his class that day. The next day he took people to where he had found the button.
They decided it hadn’t come from there so left people wondering how it came to be where it was found and what else could they discover.
The button was encased in glass and put on display at a very small museum next to Samual's learning centre.
Every day after he finished at the learning centre Samual walked with his head down looking to see if he could find something else of interest.
He wondered how on earth did they use that button.
There were no pictures, no information, Almost the whole world had been destroyed by COVID-19.
2020
People marched in every corner of the earth. we don’t know what for, but they destroyed everything in their paths so it is said.
They burnt buildings, they murdered each other.
They infected each other. No vaccine was made. Little by little the world collapsed and died.
No one was left that had documented any history. A new race began with the 1% that had lived through the virus.
The little they knew was lost in the past 200 years.

12/24/2020A clever appropo story that very well might come true. I am jealous of your imagination.
You might have been in a hurry with this one. Your grammar and formatting slipped a bit from your normal excellence. Lots of ands. Your work will live forever so make it your best.

12/23/2020Aloha Gail,
A button. I as afraid (for a second) that the poor thing was going to re-infect the Future Population. I am glad the 1% had total immunity. Can you imagine an earth with only one out of a hundred people alive? What would our planet look like with less than a billion people on the whole thing? Would we go back and wasted resources again? And would travel take months?
So many questions pop up from your lovely story. I should button my lip.
Smiles, Kevin

12/23/2020Hahaha, Kevin you bring a smile to my face now I shall to you.
This morning I sprayed 1/2 a can of fly spray on a large piece of dust behind the toilet.
I told Shane to go and pick up the dead spider. He had glasses on and had a great laugh at me.

07/08/2020I think I see where Kevin got his inspiration for 'Nervous'. Or maybe you two are just on a similar wavelength he has actually not read it yet. But your story poses a very disturbing case scenario of how things may turn out for us all down the road. Scary! Thanks Gail!

07/08/2020You're so right about that, Gail.
But on a positive note, the death toll has significantly decreased here. I only hope that trend continues....

07/08/2020Thank you JD , that’s a perfect pic. One old button.
Yes I think if we are over a certain age we are looking at the doom and gloom of the COVID-19 situation.
I don’t know how many people I have heard say that it’s not a big deal because it does not affect younger people.
It’s all a very sad depressing world at the moment.
Take care :-)
