Dear Goddess Hope

Dear Goddess Hope
When first we met,

I was young,

Pure of heart,

And pink of lung.

You seduced,

But without form,

Coaxing, urging,

With kisses warm.

You drew me in,

With secrets told,

Of chances new,

And wisdom old.

As life’s toll took,

You came and went,

There when rich,

Gone when spent.

With fading voice,

Now do you sing,

Of vampire-tooth,

And demon-wing.

My lantern dims,

My engine weak,

With final breath,

Your love still seek.

That was a tragic tale of seduction. Nicely done!

A thoughtful poem of life's journey, until the last line. Should it be Your love I still seek?

What does a human being hope for in their last moments....that'd be a fascinating concept in itself.
This particular goddess is the manifestation of oxymoron......did I use that right? Oh well!
Awesome work Jason!

Thank you, Kanishka. You certainly have seen through to my original intent. Hope's a complex topic--the source of conflicting emotions and outcomes. I wrote this from a pretty bleak place but it became something else. : )
