I am Rain

I roll my tongue out into the cool drizzle,
The bitter zest of acid latches onto my taste buds,
I stand as still as time in a black hole,
My friend, oh rain! Corrode me away into concrete,
For what more is life, but a series of chemical reactions.

I surrender my being to the Gods on the clouds,
They collect prayers and vapours from the sailors and the seas,
And pour them on a burning city; my city,
That spat me away like the cloud spits raindrops,
For what more is rain, but an act of letting go!

What a beautiful poem: the thoughts, the cadence. So moving. Who is your favourtite poet?

Excellent work, Kanishka. You've very elegantly boiled down some very deep feelings into a single, compelling moment.
