The Divine Folly

Author's note-
Ravana- The antagonist of the old Indian epic called Ramayana
Dusshera- The ceremony of Durga deity farewell or the burning of Ravan as a symbol of burnig evil.

I've included parts of my previous work here as they fit appropriately with this poem. I hope readers can pardon me this time and read this as a whole new piece.
*****

I recollect my choices disguised as sins,
My guilt is determined; I’m accused of existing,
The weight of the Book plunges me into abyss,
I am set ablaze like Ravana on Dussehra,
For what more is this flame, my hell is other people!

I surrender my being to the Gods on the clouds,
They collect prayers and vapours from the sailors and the seas,
And pour them on a burning city; my city,
That spat me away like the cloud spits raindrops,
For what more is this rain, the ceaseless act of letting go?

I roll my tongue out into the cool drizzle,
The bitter zest of acid latches onto my taste buds,
I stand as still as time in a black hole,
Oh rain, my friend! Corrode me away into the core,
For what more is this life, except a series of chemical reactions!

I twitch and twist and beg and cry,
As the filthy maggots slither into my crevices,
They probe, they eat, they feast, and they hollow my insides,
In a futile search of a disease locked in my scarlet safe,
For what more is this sickness, if not the cure for rotting minds?

I turn to the Father I’ve known to be theirs,
Seeking comfort in his divine embrace,
My confessions are the evils I’m unaware I harbour,
I thrive for retribution in the judgement hour,
For what more is this penance, but the search of refuge in a false heaven?

I try to destroy Almighty’s folly,
A swift and sudden kiss of steel,
My focal point goes astray,
And I linger free in their holy locus,
For what more am I, if not the anomaly that I am.

I see it as a educational problem when someone depicts Hindu epics such as Ramayan and Mahabharat as Indian.
About the poem, you could have explored and presented the true meaning of Dusshera, which is the day after Nawaratri and the real reason why Hindu's burn Ravan's personification.
All the best, brother.

Yes exactly. I'm aware of that. Sadly Nepalese people are more interested in Bengali arts than bengali s are of theirs. This is something that I think should change

I get you point and it seems as if you got mine as well. BTW, my beloved Bengali Guy, we have a lot of similarities when it comes to celebrating Dashera.

Hey Aciis,

I am a bengaliand, Dussehra is a completely different event for us.....it is where we bid farewell or mark the return of maa Durga. And I understand your confusion when I say indian . We have always been taught that these epics are a part of the Indian subcontinent which used to cover the whole hindu belt and some more. And lastly it is a reflex for me to use the word indian since I've been raised in a murli ethnic religious institution where both Hindus and Muslims had to study this epic together. I understand how it might appear ignorant to other Hindu countries and communities. It wasn't my intention.
However the issue I have tried to show in my poem transcends in importance than religious accuracy.
I hope you appreciate that more than my ' divine folly'

Kanishka, this is a beautifully written and moving work. But it is filled with a depth of pain that is hard to fathom. I feel sorrow for all those who have to endure this kind of inner turmoil. I wish that the people of the world could just accept one another for who we are, without prejudice or judgement. Thank you for sharing these deeply delved depths with us.

A very deep, rich, and relevant verse, Kanishka. Beautifully paced and composed. Your ability to broach a huge variety of topics with your writing shows incredible versatility and your keen, enquiring mind is abundantly evident. : )
