The Fleshlands

Ingesting bread at river’s mouth,

Fuels nether regions to the south.

The palace under grassy hill,

Trade routes abreast the fire doth fill.

Watchtowers see the enemy come,

Chords at all extremities strum.

Piston-legs and weapon-arms,

Stomach-ocean seeking calm.

Sword seeks cup and snake finds heel,

Lumbering giants boast appeal.

Lichen covered castle walls,

Libraries fed by marble halls.

Barely gleaning reasons why,

Blooming interest as we die.

Aloha Jason,

Well, when you use the Vitruvian Man as your story picture...and then write a bit of Poetry that slides easily between the Mythic, and the Epic...you win Awards. And admiration. And Fans.

Well done.

Smiles, Kevin

No worries Jason,

I think you would agree with me that the only thing Writer's do more than write...is to read. I just wish I could read and comment on everyone's stories. Reading your stories/poems is a guaranteed good time. Although, I do have to admit with most of your subject matter, I do have trouble sleeping...even with the night light on. LOL

Smiles, Kevin

Jason, your work is always interesting. Takes some thought to decipher. But as always,
a perfect piece.

I'm not entirely sure I can decipher the meaning but I get the essence....gotta read more quality if I want to keep up with your thoughts.

Thanks for reading, Kanishka. I certainly had a definite idea going in but it's also open to your own interpretation. : )

There is some antagonism and allusion to violence, maybe self - destruction..
We need some discussion Jason to understand some of your deep works.
Excellent job

Thank you, Aziz. Those elements are certainly there. I was immersed in ideas of inner worlds dictating external ones. I love writing that promotes discussion. : )
