Thirteen steps of life

Agendas shrewd, no hearts subdued,
Both stalling for crawling and falling,
Love is indeed Sparta

But weakness shows, like the Grinch it grows,
And an epic of lovers,
Is rewritten in bold

Frantic rebels, romantic drivels,
Cheesy confessions and lustful kisses,
And something about eternal togetherness

Palpitating pulse in a cacophony of culls,
Emotions seeping, hormones spattering,
Like a Jackson Pollock painting

Skins entwined, divine pleasure refined,
Two bodies in siege,
By bodily chemicals

When distance far, still legs ajar
For a short lived ecstasy,
Amidst chattering 1’s and 0’s

Valentine’s blues and ‘I miss you’s,
Preaching holy lies,
And feeding unholy truths

Then manhood starts, naiveté departs,
Shape of the romantic organ,
Now an eccentric ellipse

And the feelings scatter and surnames matter,
Ancestors are the puppeteers,
Your fate; the puppet

Finally stars aligned and contracts signed,
A brand new beginning,
To an exhausting story

Baby showers and late night hours,
Awkward encounters of the physical kind,
From arrhythmia to claustrophobia

Time hurried, ambitions buried,
No dreams when awake,
Until arsenic hits the tongue

For in the end, my gullible friend,
Life is an irreversible reaction
Love? The catalyst!

I like Jason's assessment of your being both beautiful and brutal. Which really describes life with all its chaos and messiness, yet there is so much to wonder upon and be inspired by as well. Unfortunately and fortunately we must all accept the good with the bad, the beauty with the brutality, because one cannot find joy without suffering, nor light without darkness. Such is the way of the world....

Indeed...one cannot exist without the other..

Good is good because of evil and vice versa. Blessed are those who can tell the difference

What a marvelous journey through that which builds and breaks us all.
Your work is always layered and complex, Kanishka, without sacrificing rhythm and flow. It's both beautiful and brutal. : )

Well thank you Jason! I always appreciate your unwavering support!
I meant it to be brutal, because it is!
