My memory of extreme weather
Born 2010, F, from Beaverton,OR, United StatesCrash! Boom! That’s a thunderstorm. Staring up at the ceiling of my bedroom and trying to fall asleep when I saw a flash of light above me. What’s that? I wondered. Quickly sitting up straight on my bed, and peering through my window, I searched the scenery, trying to find the source of light. Nothing. It was strange, but I shrugged mentally. It was probably nothing. However, a few moments later, ANOTHER flash of light, along with a faint BOOM appeared. Weird… I thought with fear. Feeling my heart pounding inside my ribs, I unconsciously wondered if my father could hear it downstairs. Filled with uncertainty and questions, I checked outside again, but still nothing suspicious. Finally, unwilling to keep this nightmare inside my head, I went downstairs and told my father what I saw. “Why is that happening?” I asked him.“Ohhh, that’s a thunderstorm! We must be experiencing one right now.” he answered. Immediately, my mouth fell open with a slight pop. Then, sighing with relief and turning to the stairs, I thought, Ok, so after all, it was just a little thunderstorm. Then soon, with that fear settled and not wondering about it again, I fell asleep.
