Perfection

Perfect! Absolute perfection! Turn around for me one more time.

The model turned towards the camera covering her breast with her hands giving her most seductive smile. The wind drafted through the open window in the studio slightly blowing through her hair as the camera shuttered. The picture would later go on to be on every top modeling social media page and magazine. But no one knew what went on behind the scenes in order for the picture to be taken.

The model who isn’t just some pretty face on a page or screen’s name was Anna.
Anna was twenty-three a part time college student studying philosophy. Of course when she went to modeling agencies for an interview none of them asked what are you studying. They just wanted to make sure she had the right look. From the moment Anna was born people would always comment on how beautiful she was, even her parents.

“Oh, look at her lips they look so delicate and just the right shape, not too full or too thin”.

“Her eyelashes are soft and long, she is beautiful”.

When she got older and went through puberty and her body came into full shape the compliments became more aggressive “Her breast are the perfect shape, doesn’t even have to wear a bra does she? “Her ass is perfectly round, oh how I would kill for that, you’ll never have to beg for a man they’ll be on their knees for you”.

Even her parents began to agree, noticing their daughter only for their looks, constantly complimenting on how she looked on the outside and how perfect she was but never on her qualities and how smart she was or how kind. When she entered relationships men only wanted her for her looks, constantly complimenting her looks and how beautiful she was and how they couldn’t wait for everyone to see her. No one ever truly loved her for herself as a person

Photographers always wanted to touch her, people always wanted to be her, and the world always wanted to use her for her looks but not what she had to offer as a person.

No one knew that in order to be selected for the shoot she had to not eat for almost two weeks, surviving only on water and a few roasted almonds and peanuts every few days.

She lost almost fifteen pounds even though she was already 110 pounds.

No one knew all the hospital visits she had went too for malnutrition and dehydration.

But her smile was just right, her face was just perfect and she was absolute perfection.

And when the party was over and camera’s dyed down Anna was left all alone with no love and lost, alone.

Because at the end of the day no ones perfect and everyone needs something.
