One shot Annie.
Author's Note: This is another attempt at Flash Fiction. I am trying to get these "Flash" pieces down to 100 words...or less. I have to admit, that just limiting a story to 300 words or less, is a real challenge for me. But fun!

*****

Smoking Joe Butler looked down at the hole in his chest. Just an inch to the left of his heart. He could see the smoke rising from the hole, and feel the blood running down his back. He looked back up at the shooter. Flat black eyes looked back. Not an ounce of pity or remorse shown from those eyes.

“I warned you three times. You wouldn’t stop. I told you I would kill you with a single shot. And I did.”

As Smoking Joe Butler, former self proclaimed: “Fastest, prettiest, and smartest gun in the West” fell forward into the sawdust of the old Saloon, he managed to squeak out his last words:

“But…but…but you are a girl!”

A smile lit her face. It didn’t reach her eyes.

“Yes. I am a girl. A girl named” “One Shot Annie.” And you never wondered why. "
