He had heard them first. Then he saw them.
Little green men.
Who would believe him?
They walked in his Kitchen door like they owned the place. They nodded at him as he sat at his kitchen table. His spoon in suspended animation between his cereal and his mouth. None of them were taller than his table. All but one could have walked under it without ducking. The other one would just have had to take his hat off.
They walked right up to his refrigerator and opened the door. Four of them peered in. One said something in a language that sounded like a flute married an Oboe. All of them smiled. He watched as they turned around with his gallon jug of Chocolate milk.
One of the little green men reached up and put a perfectly pristine one hundred dollar bill on his table. In that strange flute/oboe sound out came two perfectly accented English Sentences:
“That should cover the chocolate milk. Thanks.”
The second sentence made the spoon fall from suspended animation to the table top.
“We will be back in a week. Make sure you have some more chocolate milk.”
They waved... and walked out the door.
He picked up the hundred dollar bill. He would be waiting. With five gallons of Chocolate milk.
Nobody would believe little green men in his kitchen, so he never bothered to tell anyone.
They thought the new car was merely an old man spending his last dollars.
