Greek Life
Born 1981, F, from -, CyprusYoung Greek Lovers
Love me like Pygmalion's ivory,
Adorn my hair with tender blossoms a symbol of my youth,
Carry me to the edge of the sea where sweet Aphrodite was born,
And beneath the celestial witnesses,
Be mine forever.
Love Letter
Cyprian Idalia,
To you I send my love on golden wings,
Endless nights in loneliness,
I wait for you,
Pouring my tears into the Ionian sea.
I search with Helen's hope of your return,
Come back to me,
Let me once again taste the wine of Dionysus on your lips.
Writings On A Trojan Wall
My city is besieged,
The lions have fled leaving the lambs for slaughter,
Triumphant drums praise Aries as Chaos laughs.
My nose and mouth are thick with smoke,
Rivers of blood are before me,
As frightened children cry,
Huddled together,
Their love and comfort burned and butchered,
But with great joy my salvation is here,
Grinning death has come to greet me.

12/16/2020Beautiful work, Shur. Greek mythology is such a rich place to draw from and you've taken it somewhere intimate and profoundly human. : )
