In February 2014 I was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis, with perhaps a year or so to live.
In short order, my mobility became so impaired that I dwelt in an on-going state of emergency with clenched muscles, impaired digestion, increased heart rate, and a weakened immune system that compromised all other systems in my body. In April 2015 I was rushed to the hospital, diagnosed with double pneumonia and sepsis, and I despaired that my remaining time to live had elapsed. I felt so cruelly stripped of my aspirations and bright future that suicidal ideations abounded, and I felt utterly alone despite being surrounded by people, including my supportive and loving family.
At this physical, emotional, and spiritual nadir, I heeded my inner voice that reminded me I still held the choice to give up… or not. This proved to be a major turning point in my life-and-death struggle.
I assumed personal responsibility for, and control of, my own health. I formulated a plan for its restoration. I faithfully executed that plan for 5 years. Now, I have written my story in order to encourage and inspire others who are met with any great challenge.
