My first year of Hogwarts was unexpected. Everything went wrong. But it all had to be saved by that Potter. Saint Potter! To think that everyone thought he was all special and that I tried to be friendly with him! He and I are too different. Come to think of it, Harry Potter did make friends with that Ron Weasley. He’s utterly pathetic. He comes from a poor family. As I recall, when I was a boy, my dad was part of the band of servants for the Dark Lord, Voldemort. The Dark Lord just happened to be the one to kill Potter’s parents. It’s because of that that I met some other children from my dad’s co-workers. Unlike Potter and his little friends, they were just like me and not such a wuss. Then right school is almost starting, Dad wanted me to attend Durmstrang Institute in Northern Europe which taught the Dark Arts and didn’t admit spawns of normal people or Muggle-borns. But Mum didn’t want me to go far away, so I instead go to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. At the end of the summer, I had to go to Diagon Alley to shop for school supplies and happened to go into Madam Malkin’s Robes for All Occasion to buy my uniform. I still couldn’t understand. Dad always told me that Muggle-borns shouldn’t be allowed to study magic and I agree. Muggle-borns are inferior to the Pure-bred wizards which means I’m better than them. What makes them equal to the rest of us. That’s when someone walked by whom I didn’t know. He seemed to be my age looking for a school uniform too. Little did I know that I just saw the most intolerable person I’ve ever known at Hogwarts. I was stupid not knowing who he was. I didn’t know until I headed on the train to school. On the train, I saw that boy from Wizard’s clothing shop again and it turned out to be Harry Potter. Once I got a close look at him, I noticed the famous scar lightning bolt scar that’s supposed to be in Harry Potter’s forehead. I thought that he would have become a Dark wizard like my father thought, so I decided to offer my friendship to him. How wrong I was to end up lowering myself to the level of that Potter. He turned me down and I was furious and still am. I could have helped him in many ways, and he would have been incredibly lucky to be allied with me. Why in the world would the Famous Harry Potter decide to not be friends with me of all people? That was just the start of the hatred I had for that Scarhead. When we all got to Hogwarts, we boarded off the train to go to the castle. It seemed that the famous Harry Potter made another friend on the train besides Weasley boy, it was a girl whose name is Hermione Granger and she happened to be a Muggle-born. That means she’s a filthy little mud-blood. I regret so much even considering for Potter to try to be in my presence as an equal. He may have been a half wizard, but he had a lot potential that seems to have gone to waste. Once we got inside the school which is a huge castle, we would go into the Great Hall to be sorted into our Houses or residences for the year where our dormitories are. We were greeted by Professor McGonagall, the deputy headmistress of Hogwarts. The four houses in total were Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slytherin. Each house would have a team for the magical sport, Quidditch and they would be in a competition for points. Most points would be acquired by Quidditch and success in academics while points would be taken off for rule-breaking. Of course, I knew most likely that I would be placed in Slytherin. Generations of my family, the Malfoy’s, have been in Slytherin for being cunning and ambitious. I had some thought though about special Potter boy. Everyone in the wizarding world knows that he was the only one that couldn’t be killed by Voldemort and it was because of him that the Greatest Dark wizard of all time got weakened so badly resulting in abnormal scar in his forehead. I had a slight piece of belief that Potter would become eventually become a great Dark wizard due to that miraculous moment of not dying. At the same time though, I detested the idea of Potter and me potentially both being in Slytherin, but I had to wait and see. A Sorting Hat is at the front of the Great Hall and it decides the house that the student gets chosen in. After Professor Albus Dumbledore, the Headmaster of Hogwarts, gave his welcoming speech. The sorting for First year students began. It seemed that I was right that I would be in Slytherin because when it was my turn, the Sorting Hat yelled out “Slytherin” in front of all the students and Professors at Hogwarts. Before my turn though, Weasley and Granger got sorted into Gryffindor. After a few more students past my turn, Harry Potter was called next to be sorted into one of the four houses by the Sorting Hat. When he got there, I couldn’t tell what was happening as I had already been seated into the Slytherin table which was one of the four tables in the Great Hall seated by the students chosen in each house. The Sorting Hat seemed to be taking quite a while to sort Harry than the other new students. Also, Harry seemed to be muttering to himself as if he were talking to the hat. That’s when the hat started talking to the point where a lot of students in front of all four tables where I was could hear it. It was saying “Not Slytherin aay?” along with “Are you sure, you could be great you know?”. After that line, I was able to hear what Harry was muttering to himself. He was quietly saying, “Not Slytherin, Not Slytherin”. Then finally, the Sorting Hat said, “Well if you’re sure, better be GRYFFINDOR!”. I kind of realized at that moment that Potter might have been begging the Sorting Hat not to be placed in Slytherin to not be with me. Another reason that he’s so pathetic is that he doesn’t seem to have the courage to be able to deal with me. I found that ironic considering he got sorted into Gryffindor which is known for Bravery and Chivalry. The Sorting Ceremony was over after a couple more new students past Potter and we had the Great Welcoming Feast. Eventually, a day after the first time we came to Hogwarts. We began classes like Charms and Transfiguration until the first Flying Class started in the Training Grounds outside. It was the one class where First year Slytherins had the same classes as First year Gryffindors. This meant that I would have to be in the same class as that wretched Potter. Our professor was Madam Hooch who also happened to be coach of all Quidditch teams at Hogwarts. She began by teaching us how to get our broomsticks from the floor into our hands by saying the word “Up”. Of course, I managed to get the broomstick in my hand after saying the word once, but Harry managed to do the same thing which frustrated me more than you could imagine. After all of us got our broomsticks, Madam Hooch wanted us to try to hover in the air and then get back down. But of course, it had to be Neville Longbottom to get into trouble. He was a first year Gryffindor like Potter and his friends. He jumped in the air before Madam Hooch’s whistle and he got too high up which resulted in him breaking his wrist after falling into a statue. He had to go to the Hospital Wing, but I wanted to teach him a lesson. That dumb Longbottom got no brains! He’s been acting so cowardly all the time and yet he’s in the Famous Gryffindor House. He should have been sorted into Hufflepuff for God’s sake. I decided I would teach him a lesson. While Longbottom was flying so high, he dropped a Remembrall from his robes. He got it from his grandma to help him remember things. Well, he surely didn’t use it because if he had given it a squeeze, he would remember to fall into his fat arse instead of the dumb statue. I decided to hide it from Longbottom somewhere, but that’s when Potter stepped in. He might have thought it was wrong to steal Longbottom’s item, but there is never anything wrong with having fun. Madam Hooch told us to wait while she takes Longbottom to the Hospital wing, but I didn’t want to wait anymore. I took my broomstick and flew while tempting Harry to follow me and break the rules. He said, “Give it back here Malfoy or I’ll knock you off your broom”. Well, I knew that he could never do that, so I threw the Remembrall, but Potter managed to fly fast with great agility and get it back. Everyone cheered happily when he did. “How much is that goody two shoes Scarhead going to do?”, I thought. Just when I thought everything was going wrong, Professor McGonagall went to the Training Grounds at once and called Potter to follow her. She might have watched Harry flying without permission to get the Remembrall. I was thinking to myself at the time, “Potter’s going to going to get what he deserved.” After Flying class was dinner at the Great Hall, Potter came back from McGonagall, but he didn’t seem miserable at all, in fact, he was quite the opposite. I overheard Potter telling Weasley and Granger that he became a member of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. How could this have happened? He would be the youngest quidditch player at Hogwarts in a century as a First Year. He broke the rules, yet he still gets special treatment. Perhaps instead of seeing Potter’s rule-breaking, she saw his skill in flying which was perfect for the team. How in the world was I noticed for my excellent flying abilities? That damn Potter! I swore at that time that I would get revenge on that Saint Potter. At night, I happened to find the perfect chance for revenge. My plan was that I would challenge Potter to a duel and tell him to meet me at the trophy site for the duel. Once he gets there, I’ll be nowhere found which will result in Harry getting caught somewhere other than the dormitories and get in trouble for it as First years aren’t allowed to be anywhere at night except sleeping. I told Potter about the duel that night and he gladly accepted, so he went but he took his friends Weasley and Granger with him. It would work out better for me since the more people Harry is with at night, the more people might think that he’s up to something bad. After that, I decided to go to bed and wait for the morning that Potter gets into deep trouble and maybe gets kicked off the Quidditch team. The morning came and later in the day, we ate the Great Dining Hall. That’s when I saw Harry, Weasley, and Granger at their table eating normally as if nothing had happened last night. I didn’t understand, Argus Filch who is the school’s caretaker should have caught at the trophy site. That’s when I thought that since that Squib Filch didn’t see Harry, Weasley, and Granger, they must have had the opportunity to get back to the Gryffindor common room. My plan had failed miserably. It’s as if luck itself is always saving Harry Potter and that luck spreads to anybody he allies with such as Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. Still, I wouldn’t give up on getting my revenge. Though even though that trio managed to get out safely last night, they were talking as if they were plotting something. I knew from then on that not only will I have to keep my eye on Harry Potter, but also his friends the Weasel and that Mudblood girl. Months pass and it is Halloween. During the Halloween feast, Professor Quirrell who was the Defense against the Dark Arts teacher gave an announcement about a troll in the building. It was startling and even I wouldn’t dare to face a full-grown 12-foot mountain troll. The professors would handle it, but I had a slight itching feeling that Potter would face it. I just knew it. The next day after the troll was wandering around Hogwarts, everyone heard that the professors took the troll to the dungeons. But there was also a rumor. The rumor was that Harry Potter fought the troll in the girl’s bathroom long with Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. That rumor was from my fellow Slytherin classmates who heard it from Professor Snape, Head of Slytherin House. Professor Snape was there along with McGonagall and other professors when they went to the girl’s bathroom. They went there because they heard noise and by the time they got there, the troll was defeated. I thought to myself sarcastically, “Potter never ceases to amaze me”. Time has gone by and eventually, the Quidditch season begins where that Potter is the new seeker of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. His job was to find a flying object called the Golden Snitch in the match while the others score goals. If he were to get the snitch, then the game would be over, and Gryffindor would win. The match started and as the game went by, Harry’s broomstick began to move uncontrollably. It was amusing to me. Did the great Harry Potter forget how to fly? What happened to that great skill he had in our first flying class? The broom was trying to knock Harry all over the place. I suspected that a fellow Slytherin hexed it since Gryffindor was playing against Slytherin. Well after a couple of minutes, the broom unexpectedly returned to normal and Harry caught the Golden Snitch. “Gryffindor wins!”, Madam Hooch said as the Coach for Quidditch. Everyone cheered happily for Gryffindor except Slytherin. Everyone in Slytherin was furious, but not more than me. I suppose someone wanted Potter to win the match and unhexed the broom. Whoever they are, the ruined all my fun. It would have been so brilliant to see Potter fall on his laurel and break a few bones or two. Why did he have to come out of that all well? The Quidditch season was over and eventually Christmas was approaching. Almost all of Hogwarts students and professors were going to leave the holidays except a few. It’s only normal that I give Harry Potter a goodbye before leaving. Since Potter’s got no parents since they were killed, Potter must stay at Hogwarts. I would never want to be him nor will I ever have to. So, I left Hogwarts to go back home hoping that Potter gets into trouble during the holidays and gets harsh punishments with Weasley since he’s staying at Hogwarts too. Though it would have been even better if Granger were there with them only, she went home for the holidays to be with her non-magical parents. I wouldn’t want to be Potter, but Granger even more. After Christmas, I returned to Hogwarts to continue the school year. I saw Potter, Weasley, and Granger heading somewhere. I thought that this might have been related to them earlier in the year seemingly plotting something. So, I followed them. They went inside Hagrid’s hut who is the Keeper of Keys and Grounds at Hogwarts. I looked through the window and I saw that all of them were witnessing the birth of a dragon. Dragons are illegal to have in possession of anyone. So, this might have been the perfect chance to get all of them into trouble. The trio knew it themselves that Hagrid couldn’t keep the dragon, so they arranged for some people to take the baby dragon to where he belonged secretly. I decided to tell Professor McGonagall at that moment about everything that happened inside Hagrid’s hut. She decided to punish Potter, Weasley, and Granger by placing them in detention. I was overjoyed until she said I would have to be in detention with them. I was infuriated because it turned out that while they were doing something bad, I was going through Hogwarts in the nighttime and that’s not allowed. I did such a good thing and yet I was punished as well? Now, I have to do stupid servant stuff. That night, Filch led us to where we would have our detention. It was with that big oaf Hagrid. Also, Longbottom was in detention with us as well. It turns out he was wandering the corridors of Hogwarts at night as well to warn that trio about me. Well at least I had a scary reputation that Longbottom knew of. That made me slightly better. Our detention with Hagrid was to find a wounded unicorn in the Dark Forest. We had to split up our group so that it would be quicker to find. Hagrid said Weasley, Granger, Potter, and Fang who is Hagrid’s dog would go with him and out of all people, I had to go with Longbottom. Since the Dark Forest scared Longbottom so much, I played tricks on him. I had to at least have a bit of fun while we were forced to find the unicorn together. I regret it because after the tricks, Potter found out and told Hagrid. So, Hagrid made me go with Potter and Fang while Longbottom goes with him, Weasley, and Granger. I just made things worse. Now, I must go with that pathetic Scarhead. We walked through the forest looking for the unicorn and after a few minutes, we found it lying on the floor dead next to someone. This person was mysterious looking and with a cloak covering its face. Potter and I saw it drinking the unicorn’s blood. Even I couldn’t believe that anyone could kill and drink the blood from an animal so pure and gentle. Suddenly, the mysterious cloaked person saw us and was heading after us. I got scared and ran leaving Potter behind. The peculiar fact though is that Potter didn’t try to run, he tried to figure out who it was as he was heading for him. Of course, if Potter wanted to put himself in danger, why would I care? As I was running, I bumped into Hagrid, Weasley, Granger, and Longbottom who were not too far away. I told Hagrid that a mysterious looking person killed the wounded unicorn. He asked me where Potter was as well, so I reluctantly said that he stayed behind and didn’t even run. So, I had to lead Hagrid and his group to where Potter was and discovered that the mysterious cloaked person was gone. Potter was talking with a centaur. Hagrid seemed to know the centaur who was named Firenze and he told Hagrid that he saved Potter from the stranger before he could do anything to him. It was that moment with the mysterious stranger that puzzled me for the rest of the year. Finally, it was the end of my first year at Hogwarts. I never did find out what Potter was scheming the whole year with his friends. But, I didn’t care anymore. The year was crazy. We had our last feast for the year in the Great Hall and it was time to announce which house won the House cup. Dumbledore announced that the winner of the House cup was Slytherin who had the most points. It was such a great day. Even though a lot of bad things happened to me, there was one good thing that happened. All of Slytherin cheered. It was logical that we were the winners. Barely any of us got punished except unfortunately me and a few others. While a lot of Gryffindors including Potter, Weasley, Granger, and Longbottom got punished a lot. That was until Dumbledore announced that he had a few last-minute points to give. He awarded Weasley and Granger 50 points each and Potter 60 points. Also, he gave Longbottom 10 points. It was for each of their individual skills as well as bravery. I couldn’t understand, but at the same time I got so mad. Another bad thing happened. All of Gryffindor cheered so happily and it was infuriating. After the final great feast, we all headed to the train to go home, but what Dumbledore said puzzled me. He might have known something that I didn’t know the whole school year. It was probably what that trio was doing this whole time. But, I couldn’t understand what Longbottom had to do with it. That coward is worthless. After some analyzing, whatever the trio did, it required skill since Dumbledore gave them house points for that. As I was going back home in the train, I thought about it and whatever I could conclude would determine what I would need to do about that Potter. He’s definitely haven’t seen the last of me. That is the end of my abnormal First year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
