In an ivy-coloured palace, which was completely abandoned, and was falling apart with age, a wild happening occurred, which soon turned from reality, to a fable. The story goes, that a young female commoner was wondering aimlessly, when it began to rain heavily. She turned to run back home, but then she found herself to be lost. She panicked, and ran in all directions, till she stumbled on a road that she hadn’t seen before. She walked along it curiously, getting more and more wet by the minute. The road was long, twisty, tangly, and dark. But by the time the girl had reached the end, she discovered a beautiful palace. She ran to it’s inviting doors, and knocked. After knocking several times, but getting nothing in reply but the sound of hollow emptiness, she broke a window, and climbed in. She was cold, wet, hungry, and desperate. She figured that she would make her story convincing, when she came across the owner of this delightful place.
The inside was as wonderful as the outside. She soon forgot all about her sorrows, and explored every room. There were giant rooms full of glistening jewels, and expensive clothing, and polished cutlery, and old heirlooms. She wondered around the palace, seeing many beautiful things, but not seeing a single soul. Eventually, she wondered into a giant kitchen, where, after looking at the bowl of fresh fruit on the counter, she became hungry again. She walked over to the stove, and decided to make herself a simple meal. She found a small blue pot, and she placed it on the stove. Immediately, out of nowhere, the pot was full od soup. She stared at it in disbelief, but the smell floated up to her nose, and in a moment, she was drinking up the soup like a pig. A rap on her shoulder startled her, and she spun around, only to witness the strangest thing she’d seen. It was an eggplant. It was a giant one. It was as tall as her. Taller. It had arms and legs. Thin little things, but arms and legs nonetheless. It had eyes, a mouth, and a nose. Even ears, and it was gleaming at her in a little temper. The girl stared. She didn’t move, or scream, but kept her eyes fixed on this strange figure.
Suddenly, a word. “ You…” The eggplant shrieked. The girl jumped back. The eggplant spoke again. “ You thief. Brake into my palace, fine, but eat my soup? Abominable!” The eggplant snatched the pot of soup from the girl’s hands, and poured the rest of it into his mouth in one gulp. He burped. “Soup is all I can eat you horrible girl. You steal some of it, and I must wait days for more. I might die. I might! I might! And it’ll be you’re fault!”
The girl screamed and ran out of the kitchen. She found her way down to the hall and climbed out of the palace through the broken window. She ran back down the path, and when she turned around, the path was gone. She could barely breathe with fear, and she fainted. She was found a few hours later by a search party, where they took her back to her home, and eventually thought her crazy, when she told them earnestly, about the eggplant that ate soup.
