KARMA AND THE SOUL
They always say that Karma is an itch and that's exactly what happened to me a few days ago. There I was with my fiancee, we had gone to the board meeting to discuss the new ideas for the upcoming project we had decided to go through with. With the growing need for literacy, we decided to make the dreams of most bright children out there come true, that was why we had called in other parties to join in, and who doesn't enjoy a good deed before Christmas?! Trust me we all want to be on Santa's nice list.
And there he was, six feet tall, gangly and strikingly handsome maybe when I last saw him, he had lost a few pounds and most of his collar bone was prominent through that perfectly ironed button shirt, it could be easily seen, he had put on his plastic smile that could sweep your feet away and the aura of feigned concern wafted off of him. Marvin, the guy I once fell in love with and he repeatedly broke my heart and supposedly many more other hearts of other victims and maybe some future one at that, was right before me and from the looks of it, he was so surprised to see me there. I couldn't let my facial gestures betray me so I played along, of course my fiancee knew about him but he never knew what he looked like and if he did, I was beyond 100% sure that the deal was to be cancelled without any firm reasons but for the sake of the children I had to fight the urge to make the (bastard) pay. Having gone through repeatitive emotional torture, this was a piece of cake but only until the children's future was secure.
In about half an hour, everything was done and signed and it was time for goodbyes, as we scattered to go our separate ways, my fiancee was held up by some of the board members and I decided to continue on only to find Marvin by the corridor, leaning against the wall , arms crossed on his chest looking smug. Of course I couldn't just walk away from him, I had to show that I was strong enough to let go ( as if it was that easy). Silence fell only for him to break the ice with an obvious question, asking if I was really getting married, (dude, can't you see the dazzling diamond ring on my finger ringing wedding bells all the way to Timbuktu) But as a proper lady, I just simply replied yes. Then he brought out the big guns, he always had a tendency of making me feel inferior by comparing our successes which always ticked me off, which then led to me spilling my plans and inner desires to him. I inwardly prayed to the Almighty God to hold me so as not to remove my custom made heel pumps and smack a hole in his flat raised piece of land he called a head and alas He heard my prayer. My fiancee Jim came at that moment and asked who my friend was. Marvin's smirk faltered at the slightest which couldn't be noticed but not me since I had been with him before, long enough not to miss it, a crack in that black wall. And there it was, the time for my revenge and boy was it God planned. I kindly introduced Marvin as the ex-boyfriend and a dear friend, all with my toothy grin that said (how to get away with murder), and saying all that, my fiancee did the unexpected, he pulled me by my waist, closer to him that it hurt, he just smiled at that and said that it was nice meeting Marvin. I know it was a possessive move but hell it was perfect at that time. He went on to invite Marvin to our wedding and even discussed our honey moon to the Bahamas which was always my dream I shared with Marvin but he could call me a day dreamer or he could call me an extravagant person just for wanting luxury for once.
By the end of the conversation, Marvin's smirky smile was turned into an upside down one which was the first. I was fighting so hard not to break down into laughter as he was being challenged and Jim was winning . It made my day and to top it all, it was the first time he walked away first. He always won in arguments or comparison conversations but not today. The God planned moment was favoring my side and so that's how karma came back to fight for it's beginning spot. What goes around, comes around.
The End.
