My Encounter with UFO
At the time of my sighting the UFO, around 1975, I was 28 years old and living in Miami Florida. I was staying at the Gibson Hotel, which was located in the Miami downtown area and was working as a tele-marketer in the suburbs. It was a part-time job, and I got off late evenings at approx nine o’clock when it was dark. I used the public transportation system, so I had to stand and wait sometimes for fifteen minutes to twenty minutes at the relatively dark and isolated street for the bus to arrive.
No, that wasn’t where I first saw this UFO. The first time I saw this UFO was from my hotel window in the middle of the night. I notice this wite circular light slowly approaching from the city outskirts toward center city. The light, which I had assumed was the entire vehicle, seemed weird for three reasons.
It was traveling at a ridiculously slow speed, of maybe 3mph. That’s a very leisurely walking speed. No airplane or travels at that speed.
It shimmied rapidly from side to side now and then as if experiencing some type of malfunction or difficulty.
There was no sound of any engine.
Still, I wasn’t sure whether it was really a UFO of the kinds I had read about or not. But that was soon to change. You see, several days later afterwrk, I was waiting for the bus under a slight drizzle and a low fog on that deserted street approx two blocks from where I worked when I suddenly I noticed the same circular white light slowly approaching just below the fog cover from the Miami downtown area . It was exactly the same light I had seen before, very slow speed, no sound and occasionally quavering erratically from side to side.
I tried to assume that it was some type of blimp or dirigible. But no dirigible that I had ever seen wobbled sideways in that way. Furthermore, the dirigible I had seen at night, such as Goodyear Blimps, had always had advertisements scrolling along their elongated, gray colored, sausage-shaped sides and this thing was neither sausage-shaped nor displaying any advertisements.
Naturally, when something unusual of that extreme kind appears, it’s almost impossible to take your eyes off it. Especially when one has read testimonies of close encounters, watched documentaries, and read articles all about UFO’s as I had done. So I was impelled to watch it intently. As I said, I had assumed that the round light I was observing was the entire vehicle, but when it finally got near enough above some houses across the street, and the backwash from its leading circular white light illuminated its structure, I found out differently.
The white, circular light which I had mistaken for the entire ship, was actually attached to the rim of this enormous diamond-shaped object with extremely elongated vertical apexes. It looked like two two large pyramids glued together at there bases and floating with their apexes pointing vertically. I was so fascinated that I found myself just staring at it.
I had assumed that it would continue on its way, but unfortunately it didn’t. Instead, it suddenly halted in mid flight, turned off its leading white light, made it reappear on the rim facing me, and focused it directly at me. It wasn’t a blinding intensity, since I could comfortably stare straight into its white brightness. But it was the most intense softly gentle white light I have ever seen. As if it were some gateway to another place far from the one that I was in. Then it suddenly shut that light off and focused a brilliant deep red light and then a green one on me. All were similar to the white one-bright but not blinding, and consisting of an unearthly purity very hard if not impossible to describe.
During that time, I noticed that its hull that was barely reflecting these lights didn’t seem metallic. Instead, it appeared to be of a dull brownish, organic texture and provided the vessel with a disturbing appearance of extreme heaviness. Yet it was silently and effortlessly hovering as if in complete defiance of gravity. At the moment of seeing that animalistic texture of the hull, I should have panicked and bolted for safety. But inexplicable I didn’t.
Then, suddenly, all its lights were gone. It then refocused the white light towards the direction it had been traveling before, and slowly proceeded toward the the general direction of what I knew was the Miami airport. Based on my research into UFO”s, I imagined that it had some plans in relation to the airport and that there would be some kind of interaction. Such were my thoughts as I just stood there mesmerized watching it recede into the distance displaying the erratic laterally movement and wondered just what purpose such a strange motion could possibly have.
Then, approx. fifteen minutes later, the public transportation bus finally arrived. I felt as if in a daze. I had finally become one of those few people who witnessed a UFO! Yet, I found myself trying to deny it and to convince myself that I had imagined the whole thing. Perhaps because I found the experience extremely unpleasant. You know, as if I had been somehow disrespected and abused by being examined like a germ in a petri dish.
Also, had the UFO been beautifully-shaped, such as those elegantly-shaped flying saucers depicted in sci-fi films, then the memory would have been pleasant. But the exaggerated vertexes and the organic quality of the hull, both didn’t make sense, and made the thing look strongly menacing and predatory. But the most disturbing of all was the missing time and my abnormal trance-like disregard for the possibility of getting burned from the light. Where had I been during that missing time of approx. half an hour or more? Why had I not fled when sensing danger? After all, I had read about the burning of people with such lights. Yet, it was as if I had been rendered incapable of flight.
Next morning, I had just decided to consider it all merely a figment of my overactive imagination for the sake of mental tranquility. Unfortunately, that morning’s newspaper featured headlines about a UFO causing havoc with Miami Airport traffic on the previous night. In other words, it had all been real. I did catch a glimpse of that accursed thing several more times from late at night from my Gibson Hotel window after that, but haven’t seen it since, and that was close to 1975.
As for wanting to see it again? Thanks, but no thanks. Neither am I interested in undergoing hypnosis to see what happened during the missing time. Goodbye and good riddance whatever it might have been.

05/02/2021Aloha Radrook,
First, Congrats on a Well Deserved Story Star of the Month! I don't know how I missed it. I guess I don't scroll down enough.
Second, well, Buddy, you and a whole bunch of Navy and Air Force Pilots, and more than a few Astronauts, and now both the Pentagon and the Government have said that UFO (although they go under another name now: UAP's) are real.
Third, I wouldn't want to know what missing any time in my life feels like.
Smiles, Kevin
