Dystopia
Born 2004, F, from Cambridge, United KingdomI kept low as I wandered the streets. I couldn’t get caught. I couldn’t get caught. Not now. Not never. I knew by being out, that I risked my existence. But, my friend was out there, somewhere in that big city, with the type of buildings that towered over you. The year was 3055, and almost all humanity was lost. We used to control technology, but technology now controlled us. And, everything in its sight. It grew up from its roots, duplicating, into an entire army. Almost everywhere you looked, there were robot troops storming the city, keeping eyes out for the slightest bit of humanity, only to drag that bit away. Where do those people go? That’s a question I don’t know the answer to.
My purple eyes dilated and adjusted to the atmosphere, as the sun started to fall.
I carefully planned out my every move, staying within the shadows of the alleyways, with cat-like stealth. I eyed my friend, and watched my steps, as I went to her. I grabbed my friend and embraced her, and she looked at me with a strict face. “Shh, not so loud or they might hear you…” She whispered. “They…” I said, my voice trailing off. I swung my head around and a robot troop stood behind me. Goosebumps crawled up my arms, as I saw them up close, with their clanky silver armor, and their intimidating exterior.
I turned back around and faced my friend, her lips curled into a smile, as her blue eyes glitched, and started to glow. I fell backward, knowing that was no longer my friend. She lifted up her hand with a robotic motion and pointed at me. The robot troop grabbed at me and started to carry me away. I tried my best to fight back, flailing my arms around, and kicking violently. One of the robots injected something into my arm and my eyes started to shut….
Clamp.
Bang.
Stomp.
Clamp.
Bang.
Stomp.
“Awake yet?”
“Showing no signals.”
“Try this.”
I awoke with a jolt. My head pounded, and my vision was blurred. “Where am I?” I asked groggily. An out-of-focus figure looked down on me. I paused. “Who am I?” I questioned. “All systems are in check.” the figure said to someone nearby. I heard a clicking noise, and I felt electrical surges traveling throughout my body. My thoughts went blank. My vision went blue. I stood up. No pulse. No breath. “Welcome 0210.” the figure said.
