Life on an Orphan
Emma was an orphan, living with her uncle and aunt already having 2 younger daughters and a son. Her uncle Smith was the breadwinner of the whole family, who shifted to another country to avail some better opportunities for earning and supporting his whole family. Her aunt Olivia considered her as the root cause as her husband had to stay away from his family, kids, and wife. She was used to treating her like servants and she was used to pretending that she is good with her in front of her husband. Olivia’s daughters were too younger to be acknowledge anything. Emma left her study to lower the expenses her uncle was bearing because of her study. She was living like a maid without caste at her aunt’s place.
The day she reached the age of puberty, Olivia started to pinch Mr. Smith for her marriage as she wanted to get rid of her as soon as she can. After thinking for a month, Mr. Smith gets agreed with his wife and gave this responsibility to his trustworthy wife. She asked a matchmaker and also with the demand that she won’t be able to give any dowry to her so whoever accepts this proposal first she would have no objection on any of the proposal. A proposal came for her by Mr. James and she accepts that without knowing Emma’s choice and without any investigation. After one week Mr. James and Emma got married and shifted to Mr. James’s place.
Mr. James is a tall, handsome man of 35 years with dark brown eyes, having a light beard on his face. He is well settled having a luxurious house. His parents passed away when he hit his 20th birthday. James is a caring person. James and Emma three month with great pleasure as Emma forget whatever she has faced in her past. She was living her life happily. Even she stop contacting her uncle and aunt nor even visited them once after her marriage.
One day Emma and James went out to an official dinner. There James introduced Emma to everyone. After spending a good time there they came back to their home. Opening the front door of a home, Emma went to the kitchen for making some tea for herself and asked James if he desired it or not. James took it for granted. He went into his room without replying to her. This seems very unusual to Emma. She made her tea and went in. she asked his husband if there something unusual or wrong with him. James holds her hand asks her I want you to change yourself the way I wanted to see you. She heard that and remain quiet for a while after being quiet for some time she asked him what do you want me to do or how do you want me to see him. He replied I like Mrs. Joe’s lips very much and I wanted yours as the same. She heard his words and ask him don’t you like my lips? He answered its good but I want to see you with the lips I like. She stays quiet. James went to get fresh. She spent her whole night thinking about what James had said to her.
After thinking for three days and considering all the love that James had given to her, she thinks that she should have changed herself the way James wanted to see her. She became agreed over this and to change herself. She asked James that she agrees. James tells her that he has already taken an appointment with a plastic surgeon for her surgery and already paid all the charges and it’s the next day she would be changing her lips. This was very strange for Emma as to how can he do so without asking her first as she wanted to do so or not. But she ignored all that by thinking about the extreme level of love he gave her.
They went to have her plastic surgery and he changed her lips the way he wanted to. After that having her surgery, she was not liking her lips. But she was accepting all that for the sake of her husband’s happiness.
James was happy and pretended to be normal after some passage of time, he came back home and asked for dinner. At the dining table he asked Emma that are you satisfied with your nose. Don’t you think it is thinner than normal? She was looking at him with no response on her face. He opened his phone and show her a pic and asked her haven’t you admire this young lady for how beautiful her nose is? He was confessing to her to change her nose and went for some plastic surgery to change her nose. She felt that quite unusual as she underwent plastic surgery and her husband wanted her to have another. She was not ready but her husband washed her mind to undergo this surgery and took her in confidence. He again took an appointment for her without knowing her choice. Again he took her to a surgeon and she faced plastic surgery again. She was not happy at this time as she was losing her appearance. But she was bearing all this for the happiness of her husband.
She was quiet but she was not happy. This scene proceeded and he started to demand surgery for each and everything he looks or likes in other women. He came to the home and ask her to change her particular feature. She started to say that she doesn’t want to change herself anymore. He was not ready to hear anything from her as he was used to hearing yes. He changed her eyes, lips, nose, chin, cheeks, and many-body features. She was obsessed with hearing all that and she was completely changed from what she was. He was still doing the same things he was doing before.
James went on a foreign trip and left Emma behind saying that he is going on an official trip. She was suffering from mental trauma. She packed his luggage and he had to leave the next morning and was planning to have her complete face surgery with the girl whom he loved at some time. She did not agree with this. The next day he went on a trip and it had been 24 hours after his departure when she turned the TV on and saw news of the plane crash in which his husband was flying. After hearing the news of the plane crash she cried at once but she became stable as she would be having no need to change herself anymore and she will get all of the money her husband had. She would be able to live a happy life. She didn’t contact any helpline for asking her husband not even for his dead body.
She was spending her life happily. One month has been passed after her husband's death. She was sitting on the red, velvety sofa in the TV lounge as he heard a bell at door. She was confused at first as no one came to see her for the whole month. Who is here now? She got up and went for opening the door. She opens the door and saw her husband standing in front of her. She went out of mind. Instead of being happy she was in shock as she thought never to see his face again. All her pain came back to her mind as to how much she has been suffering because of him. All of his sufferings flashed back to her mind and she started to think that she will be facing all that pain once again. She was quiet and she didn’t ask anything to her husband anything. James told her that only five injured persons were saved during that plane crash he was in an unconscious state and he survived after that and they dropped him off. She asked him for dinner as if he is hungry. She went into the kitchen and cook his favorite food and added some poison to it. She served the food to him and after that Emma and James both eat the poisoned food as she shared his plate as she was considering injustice as she is murdering him. After having their meal they went to their room for their last sleep leaving all the things in their right place.
