The Shubenacadie Residential School
Born 2010, F, from Quebec, CanadaGeorge Gays farmland was bought to build the school. The Shubenacadie residential school was built in 1928. The staff was Roman Catholics called the sisters of charity of saint Vincent de Paul. They said their “original mission” was to educate orphans or neglected kids. The first kid there arrived February 5th, 1930. 10% of Mi'kmaq where in the school. 30% of native kids were placed in residential schools nationally. When the staff thought they deserved a punishment they would suffer whippings and beatings sometimes to death. In the school they would have a terrible living space, racist curriculum, farm labor and hunger. The residential school closed on June 22nd, 1967. In the school 16 kids where reported dead but the missing kids where never reported. The survivor count is up to15,000 to 25,000 people who are still alive today. In this time the prime minister paid them over a billion$ in total.
