Adventures of the future queen
Born 2007, F, from Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh, IndiaThe sun was hidden behind the gray clouds as I skipped my way back home. I usually like this kind of weather but now wasn't the time for that. I had to rush home before my parents came here to get me, and trust me you'd never want the latter one. I turned round the corner of the street and almost bumped into an electric poll. Whew! Thank goodness I stopped just before that. Thank goodness I reached home and was safe, or not! There were my parents standing like a mountain. Their faces told me everything. "Where were you?" my mum shouted out. " Enjoying the weather." I said as it was the most obvious thing. "Your grandma will come here at this rate!" my father was angry as well. "Come on now go quickly or face her wrath." "But why do only I have to suffer?!" I whined, "You guys get to enjoy the day while I have to go to those boring meetings." "Because we're not the future queen," my mum said as a matter of factly. "Yeah yeah enjoy your freedom. I will just go and suffer." I say as a green fog starts to cover me.
Now let me explain my story as I teleport. I am Amelia Larchen, a fifteen years old girl who has a pretty average life. Going to school, doing assignments, having fun with friends and all. But here's the twist - I'm not a human. Big news! Yep we're, as in me, my parents and the people who live where I'm going, 'Hebesis', a race that resides in the clouds above. We are pretty human-like, except some of our powers and that we have Queen as our ruler. That very queen is my grandma, who's gonna pinch my ears real hard 'cause I am late, and yeah I'm training to be the future queen.

My head was really dizzy when I finished teleporting to the great palace situated in the sky. Teleporting has it's after effects and dizziness was the least harmful considering that many people have fainted and some have even coughed blood if not used to it or having very weak bodies. Thankfully I had enough practice. "Miss Amelia", Miss Jenna, the queen's personal secretary, called out from behind, "You're late. The meeting started 15 minutes ago." "Then why are you outside?", I question her because as a personal secretary she's supposed to be with grandma during the meetings. " You're grandma sent me to check on you. I was going to call your parents but you appeared just before that", she replies, sounding tired. I guess she was really tired from looking for me. We walk as fast as we could without running and finally arrived in front of the meeting room's gate. I put my hand on the scanner as it scans my fingerprints, then my eyes and lastly the butterfly shaped mark on the back of my palm. It's a special mark that is a proof of me being the successor of the queen and had to be scanned to show that I'm a royal for the gate to be opened. It also glowed in the dark. The gates finally opened after Miss Jenna also underwent the scanning procedure and we entered, only to interrupt the once talking members. And my grandma was clearly not impressed as she was glaring at me not only for being late but also for my dress. Yep! I could tell just from the glare. I was wearing just a simple tee and skinny jeans which looked really shabby in comparison to my grandma's 'sophisticated' gown. Now, she didn't liked to dress up much but for today she had and had even asked me to wear a gown rather than jeans which I clearly forgot. " I am really sorry for being late", I said as politely as I could " I was busy with some other work" The other members just nod as I sat down on my seat. They start the meeting once again and I listen as attentively as I could and tried to give my best solutions to their problems while trying to impress grandma so that she wouldn't be very angry after the meeting. The meeting finally ended and all the members went towards their respective destinations leaving me and grandma alone. Miss Jenna had also gone to see them off. "I think I clearly told you to not be late and to wear a gown." my grandma's speech started and didn't end before at least 20 minutes ( I counted!) as she demanded all of the reasons or excuses I could give her for today. After the lecturing was finally done, she came to more important matters. "When are your summer vacations starting?" she asked. "After a month." I replied and totally knew what was coming next, "Then you can visit the Beriatan territory that time and make sure to deal with their problems." "Yeah sure." I replied but, "What about my summer homework?" "You'd have to manage both the work together" she said matter of factly. "Yeah I'd have to" I grumbled. I really wanted to spend my summer vacations with my parents but a future queen has to sacrifice her enjoyment for the sake of her people. The training was getting harder as the time went by. "Now come I want to show you something" grandma said with a really sweet smile that vanished all of the frowning and anger on her face. I wonder what it is that did this almost impossible thing.
