One autumn night, I was walking down a cobbled street bathed in orange leaves. I marveled at the beauty around me, trees and leaves bathed in warm colors like orange, red and yellow, with dry branches scattered everywhere and the smell of winter getting closer and closer. I was wrapped in a gigantic coat that made me look like an emu and with the walk it began to give me heat, but the soft and cold breeze of the night made up for it.
Suddenly, I felt dizzy. I blinked twice to chase away the discomfort and when I opened my eyes I found myself in a gigantic white world. Everything around me radiated spectacular beauty. From the huge castle in front of me to the delicate flower petals that lined the paths (apparently they had not been affected by autumn) the place was fantastic and covered by a veil of impressive tranquility. I wondered where it was and why it was there. That's when I saw it.
There was a path right under my feet, bordered by small red and white roses. At the end of the path rested a crystal clear water fountain, but the most impressive was next to it. A gray stone statue, the size of a man about five foot five. He had pointed ears and beautiful curly hair, the features of his face were so perfectly defined that no sculptor in the world could have copied the work. Although the colors of his eyes were not distinguishable, I suspected they were brown, he wore something similar to armor and on his belt he carried the hilt of a sword.
Seeing that statue led me to wonder why that place would be empty, it was a world full of riches and comforts, no one in their right mind would ever want to leave it. I even came to believe that it would be a magical world.
Just as I was about to approach to touch the sculpture, I heard a distant voice.
"What happened?"
Antony?
What was he doing here?
Another voice, this time from an older man.
"The woman who called said that she was sitting in a cafeteria when she saw the patient pass out, she said that she had seen her walking down the street when she looked again and she was on the floor, unconscious"
What was happening? Could it be that this place was not empty?
I tried to move towards the voices (That did not come from any particular place) But my feet did not move. What was this place?
A female voice.
"Doctor, you are reacting"
The first voice, the one that sounded like Antony.
"Ellie? Ellie do you hear me?"
The older man's voice.
"She's reacting, keep talking to her, she probably hears it, but she's not fully aware yet"
There was no doubt, it was Antony.
"Ellie, I'm here, talk to me Ellie, come on honey, I know you can"
Talk, my voice sounded strangely sleepy.
"Mmmm ... What ... Anton ...?"
Again Antony.
"Yes honey, it's me, wake up"
Then I opened my eyes.
The world he was in disappeared to make way for a hospital room. I was lying on a bed and connected to a couple of cables, to my right was a man in a white coat and a black beard, to my left was Antony, my boyfriend, with a worried face and a silent nurse who took my vital signs.
- That...? What happened? - I said.
- You fainted - Antony answered - A woman called the emergency room and they brought you to the hospital, how are you feeling?
- Good ... I think good.
- Don't worry Miss Lopez, you'll be fine soon.
- But ... but, why did I faint?
- According to what the analyzes show, he probably fainted due to the sugar level, it was low, I will prescribe some medications to continue monitoring his level, but there is no significant damage.
- I mean ... I mean ... What I saw wasn't real?
- Excuse me?
- It's just ... I was ... I was in a world, white, very beautiful, and there was ... there was a sculpture and ...
The doctor did not seem surprised.
- Most of the patients who pass out suffer from hallucinations while they are unconscious, they are like normal dreams.
- Oh, wow.
- You feel good? - Asked Antony.
"Yes, yes, I'm fine" I smiled, although inside she was still a bit confused.
Since that day I couldn't stop thinking about that statue, I thought about it a lot, especially at night. He saw her over and over again trying to make sense of it, but there wasn't. How could there be a sculptor who captured expressions, skin marks so well?
It was impossible.
There was no doubt, it had been a dream.
