Why did you kill me?
Hi, I'm Lacey Tenner and I'm speaking out about what happened to me and my friends Taylor and Allie 3 years ago. On July 22 we all decided to meet up to do an escape room. Once we entered the building, we saw a contract that said “you can still turn around but once you pass the door after signing you lose all right to holding us legally accountable for injury's leading up to death. This game has winners and losers, are you going to test your luck”? Without thinking anything of it we signed and went through the doors.

The first escape room looked just like Allie’s living room. Taylor looked under the couch cushion and found a note that said Cling Kick Cot which is an anagram for ticking clock. Allie found a black light inside the clock. She scanned the room with that until she found these words on the wall “this game works in turns, choose who's going to go first. once selected they must share their worst fear with the group and type it in the lock.” Allie quickly said her fear is nothing and typed that in. A couple seconds later black lights turned on. All over the room it said liar. When the lights turned back on Allie was in a dome filled with insects all you could hear was her screaming, until she stopped, all you could see was insects over her body.

Taylor and I ran to the entrance point and started banging at the door yelling help, help, over and over. It didn’t work so we went back to where Allie’s body was and I said I am afraid of heights. The door opened. When we both got in the second room the door shut behind us. The room looked like Taylor’s bedroom and found the words dies, when, next, opens, door, person and one. that unscrambled to next door opens when one person dies. Once that was figured out, she sat me down and said that she keeps a gun in her room because she suffers from social anxiety disorder. As she stood up, she pulled her gun and said good-bye Lacey and then she pulled the trigger and fell to the ground.

The final room door opened. it was half of the first room and half of the second room and it was full of blood. once I solved the clues it said stab yourself to unlock the fire exit. I thought about killing myself, but I heard Taylor's voice in my head, don’t waste the sacrifice, so I put the scissors through my thigh and limped out of there. To this day I think to myself why am I still alive and not them. What is the point of life if I'm not happy. Everyone I met has told me it’s not your fault but deep inside I know it is.
