One evening me and my friend Emilee were walking home from school and talking about all the things we wanted to do after we got done with school. Emilee decided she wanted to become a veterinarian, and I told her that I was going to join the military. As we were walking we saw two kids running, then sirens. “Kids must be runnin’’ from the law”. Emilee said while placing her hands on her hips. “Juvenile delinquents'' I shook my head. When we got to Emilee's house I reached my arms out to give her a hug. She said “see ya tomorrow Lindsey '' and ran inside. As I approached my house, my little sister, Ava came running up to me and literally almost knocked me down. I grabbed her hand and walked her inside. Mom already had supper done, my favorite meal, spaghetti. “Hey dear I made your favorite tonight”. She said walking to the sink to wash her hands. I walked to my room. “Thanks mom,” I shouted to her. I had lots of homework to do so I grabbed out my math textbook and notebook. Slowly working on each problem when there was a ringtone blaring it was my phone, I searched around then finally saw it was on my dresser, quickly I picked it up and answered it.
“Hello?” I replied briefly. A girl yelled in my ear “Hi!” Then I realized it was Emilee. She told me how there was this cute boy that moved in right nextdoor to her. I said that it was too early for me to date right this second. I ran downstairs when I heard my mom call my name. She gave me a plate of food and I sat at the table, then ate. I went upstairs to call Emilee. We talked for what seemed like hours and hours at a time. Then she decided she would go over and talk to that cute boy she’d been rambling on about for some time.
That is all I would ever hear when I called her. She thought it would be a good idea to invite me over to his house, and I told her I would think about it. The next morning I woke up in a good mood thinking what to say to this kid. Mom dropped me off at Emilee’s house. I could see the moving truck right across the road, my heart was pounding in excitement. I thought to myself “why though, why do I feel so nervous?” I ran up to Emilee’s door, then rang the doorbell hoping to see her. She opened the door a little and said, “Who’s there?” I peeked in the crack and Emilee said, “oh hi Lindsey'' as she quickly opened the door more. Never have I ever seen her this happy in my entire life. We walked next to each other up to the boy’s door and knocked. He opened the door and looked at us then around the neighborhood. “Girl Scouts?” he replied. We shook our heads side to side quickly. He raised an eyebrow. Emilee pointed to her house and said, “I live in that house and saw that you were new to this neighborhood, so I figured I would come to welcome you” She said with a smile. “Oh” his face blushed pink. She asked him if he was going to go to Riverside Stem Academy. And he replied with a hazily yes. “Did ya possibly wanna hang out with me and Emilee at school?” I questioned. There was a long pause then he finally said “Yeah.” “Im Lindsey by the way” I said, rubbing at the back of my head. “Lucas,” he quickly replied. Lucas was a pretty cool guy I thought to myself, good looks, pretty shy, and kind. Afterwards me and Emilee decided to go to the pool. We walked down the road. We both decided to buy a bag of chips, a drink, and a sub sandwich to split. We sat at a bench, drinking and eating our food then all of a sudden, Lucas came in hair blowing in the wind, now right there it seemed like a part of a romance episode, with some girl meeting some boy and she sees him like some muscular prince coming to help her.
He quickly walked over when he saw me and Emilee at the bench. We talked quite a lot, then went swimming. I jumped off the diving board with Emilee. Few weeks after, mine and Emilee’s friendship started fading away slowly, she had been talking about some boy she was dating, and how they talked on Snapchat everyday, probably some goof she added and just randomly started talking to. All the gossip was going round, like some bad case of the flu. I walked up to Emilee an hour into school and asked her why she wasn’t coming around anymore. She said she just felt the urge to meet new people, but not really hang out with me anymore.
My heart felt like it had been pinned seventy times, a huge knot in my throat, and my eyes started to tear up. I replied with “okay”, trying to not cry in front of her, then quickly ran to the girls bathroom. I put my legs across to the other side of the stall with my head on the other side, listening to a sad song called “Silent Scream”, thinking about why Emilee decided to go her separate ways. Lucas and Emilee hung out a lot more often at school. At first I thought to myself, could Emilee and Lucas be a couple? Is he the one she talks to on Snapchat everyday? No it couldn’t be possible, tears ran down my face like a waterfall. Mrs. Jackson came in to check on me, she must've heard me bawling my eyes out. “Lindsey, are you in here?” she called out. “Yes' ' I replied sniffling into my sleeve. Mrs. Jackson walked me to the Principal's office. I called my mom, and made up some excuse for why I was crying. Even though I had a bad case of the blues. I never went to Emilee’s house every day after school or on the weekends after that. She never called me that week at all, my mom was getting worried about me because I wouldn't eat, wouldn’t sleep, I couldn’t even do the family fun days on Saturday anymore. The end
